It was in a festive atmosphere that the CAB FAMILY met to celebrate the end of another time for its Formation echelons. One week from the 16th The CAB tournament, which will run from 1 to 7 July and mobilize more than five hundred, the All-Star of the CAB crowned the personalities who have distinguished themselves most throughout the period in the life of the Club, not only in the sports sphere, but also in the social sphere. The All-Star party began with the three-point free throw contests, as well as the ‘kills challenge’, designed to test the participants’ ball management and dribble. From the first round of the contests, the finalists were determined to compete for the club's best pitchers. While, in the three points, the athletes Francisco Freitas and Mariana Spínola advanced to the final, in the free throw the most accurate were Becas Fernandes and Mário Schmidt. In the finals, Francisco Freitas won the title of best triplet and Rebeca Fernandes won the crown of best free throw. In the ‘kills challenge’ the fastest was Carolina Henriques who thus won the title of best ball management of the Club. After the contests, it was time to watch the club's smallest stars shine. In a game filled with rhythm, excitement and great joy, the Red Mini-Stars measured forces against the White Mini-Stars. In a match where the big winner was Basketball, the score was higher for the White Team side. Congratulations all the participants, for the joy they brought to the pavilion, and also coaches Miguel Pimenta and Faby Ortelá, selected to guide the formations involved in Mini-Stars. The little ones gave way to the older ones for the All-Star match, disputed by those who, in the sub-14, sub-16 and sub-24 more distinguished themselves, in the perspective of coaches. Guided by coaches Tony Freitas on one side, and Zé Costa on the other side, All-Star players filled the field with ‘delicious’ details of good basketball and a competitive spirit, but always of camaraderie. He took the best White Team, which won the game by the 61–57 result. After the games and the contests, there was a place for awards, which awarded the winners of each race and also the winners of the Mini-Stars and All-Star games. This was followed by the recognition of the most distinguished people throughout the year in support of the Club and the great CAB FAMILY. As Fans of the Year, the Club Board recognized D. Henriques and Rui Cunha for the tireless work they have done, not only this year, but over many years, for the Club. Thanks to its collaboration and constant presence in the many sports and social activities of the CAB, the Club has overcome many ‘torments’ and faced the great challenges of the difficult and hard times in which we live. As Collaborators of the Year, the Club Board recognized Ritinha France and Rui Nicholas. On a completely free basis, Ritinha and Rui have been support pillars for all the Club teams, carrying out essential tasks for our operation, not only in senior games, but also in support of training teams. The importance of the tasks you perform is recognized by everyone and they occupy a very special place in the heart of the entire CAB FAMILY. As Partners of the Year, the Club Board recognized Ana Couto and João Caldeira, parents of club athletes and great drivers of the club's social actions. Thanks to the commitment and initiative of these two partners, the Club has made effective efforts to raise funds, which have enabled us to meet the maintenance costs of our Pavilion. Your attitude is exemplary. The Men's Sub-16 Team has been voted Team of the Year. Throughout the time, this team grew and developed, and the ‘boys’ who started the season were, under the leadership of coach Tony Freitas, transformed into men who are more aware of the great work ethic that must be assumed to win at Basketball. The desire is that they continue to work to keep growing. At one of the high moments of the night, Miguel Pimenta was distinguished with Coach of the Year's award. In recognition of what Miguel has done for the Formation of the Club, not only this year, but many years ago to this part, the Board of the Club awarded the deserved distinction to a person who has marked by the positive several generations of athletes of the CAB. At the time of the award, the ‘speaker’ of the event recalled the words of CAB president Francisco Gomes, who said about the distinguished coach, “He is not just a coach. He's a father to the athletes, he's a friendly presence, he's a figure that marks the lives of those who passed through his hands. In fact, he represents the mystique of this club and the pride we have in history that we have earned and in the work that we do every day. I am privileged to know him and to have him as a coach and as a friend.” The Star Party ended with a Popular Saints Dinner, organized by the Country Club. In what was another moment of fraternization and joy, the Dinner once again affirmed the great ties of companionship and friendship that unite the CAB FAMILY and that make the CAB a different and special Club.
