The CAB women's team moved to Lisbon to face the Algés team. For the Friends, today's game was the first of a double journey, since tomorrow, Monday, they face the team of Quinta dos Lombos, with which they share the first place of the Women's League and which, recently, has been strengthened with two other players, one of them foreign. So to the CAB, the challenge, in addition to winning Algés, was to manage the physical condition of their players. The match began better for the Madeirans, who won the first period by some enlightened 4-28. The great advantage gained in the marker reflected not only the great defensive pressure that was being successfully carried out by the Friends, but also the offensive effectiveness that Julie Forster and Ashley Bruner had the best writers. At this early stage of the meeting, the counterattack was being the CAB's main weapon, which came with some naturality from the many ball robberies the defense was achieving. In the second period, the great collective attitude of the Friends continued to bear fruit. The team extended its offensive and defensive good performances, giving little chance to the house to mount the game and reach the basket defended by the players in red. Algés still turned to the outside game, trying several three-point releases, but the home launchers were not having an inspired afternoon, and at the break, they had only a triple converted into 13 attempts. In terms of score, Chelsea Guimarães and Inês Cunha, with 4 points each, were the most unconformed. On the side of the CAB, Carla Freitas recorded, at the interval, 10 points, 4 points and 4 assists, proving the good time in which she is living. Julie Forster (22 points to the break) and Ashley Bruner (12 points to the break) were also helping to build up the advantage of the CAB, which was 13-53 when the teams gathered for the locker rooms. The 11 ball robberies (against 2 of the locations) and 14 assists (against 4 of the Algés) recorded by Madeirans at the interval also mirrored their good collective understanding. In the third period, the offensive production of the CAB was lower compared to what had been in the previous two periods (20 points noted, against 28 and 27 of the previous periods) and the effectiveness in the triple launches was much lower than expectations (1 converted into 9 attempts at the end of the third period). However, the good defensive performance of the Madeirans (16 ball robberies at the end of the third period), as well as the great aggressiveness they were demonstrating in the chapter of the uprisings (37 won at the end of the third period) allowed the players guided by João Pedro Vieira to reach the end of the third time in front of the marker by 22-75, an advantage of 53 points that reflected the competitive difference between the two formations. Julie Forster (28) and Ashley Bruner (22) dominated the chart of the annotators, but it was the 21 assists that the CAB had as a team that were making the real difference in the group's collective posture. Highlight also Carla Relva, who, after 30 minutes of play, recorded 7 points, 5 points and 3 assists, making a valuable contribution to the team. In the fourth period, the CAB maintained good collective understanding, demonstrating high cohesion in offensive and defensive tasks. The superiority of the Amigas was expressed in all statistical categories, with the CAB gaining more backlashes than the Algés (52 against 31), making more ball robberies (19 against 9), recording more assists (23 against 5), and making less ball losses (20 against 27). No surprise, the Madeirans won the game by 32-93, with contributions from all players on the squad, without exception. Although the CAB’s launch percentages were not the best (55% of the 2 points and 33% of the 3 points), the strong collective provision helped the CAB to win, well, the meeting. In individual terms: Sara Barreira (6), Joana Lopes (4), Catarina Freitas (3), Carla Freitas (12), Marta Bravo (9), Carolina Escorcio (4 objections), Ashley Bruner (22), Julie Forster (28), Carla Relva (9).
