The women's CAB team this afternoon played the first game of a double journey that only ends on Sunday afternoon. In today's game, counting for the Cup of Portugal, the Amigas faced, in Vila Nova de Gaia, the Coimprons, a team that militates in the I Division of Women, and, coincidentally, is guided by Manuel Braga, former athlete of the CAB and teammate of João Pedro Vieira, current coach of the CAB team. The competitive differences between the two teams anticipated a game, theoretically, more accessible to Madeirans. Even so, the CAB, which could not count on much help from the American Julie Forster, largely limited by an injury to the right wrist, entered the field with all respect for the opponent and engaged to justify the passage to the next stage of the competition, namely the eighth finals. In the first period, the CAB already won by 11-27, and, at the interval, the Friends moved forward by the result of 29-48. On the return of the locker rooms, the CAB returned to play with a very sober and committed attitude, both in defensive tasks and in offensive movements. Although it is essentially using players who do not usually have many minutes of play, the Madeiran club finished the third period in front of the result by 38-75 and concluded the match with a 39-point win, namely 48-87. Tomorrow, the CAB faces Benfica's team, starting on the 11th Women's League Day. The match will be at 4:30 in the Light Pavilion.
