The CAB faced the Sportive Union of the Azores in the first game of the Federation Cup. The match began very close to 10 p.m. due to the delay of the previous match, between GDESSA and Olivais, won by the Coimbra team. The game began best for the Madeiran team, which won the first period by 28-13. The Amigas benefited from the outside game of Marta Bravo and Carla Freitas, who forced the defense of the Azorean zone to redoubled efforts. The CAB launchers were very well supported by Lavinia Silva, more active in the areas near the basket. Nevertheless, the Madeirans revealed some permissiveness in the chapter of the caveats, perhaps due to the absence, by injury, of Julie Forster, that Sportiva exploited with some merit. In the second period, the CAB continued the aggressive defense with which it was approaching the meeting, but it was insufficient to compensate for the very weak offensive effectiveness they demonstrated over almost the whole second period. In the first six minutes of the period, the CAB scored no point and saw the Azorean team reduce the expression of the marker to 28-21. A discount of time requested by João Pedro Vieira 'agreed' the CAB team, which began to present the effort required, reaching the interval ahead by 41-25. At this stage of the meeting, the most effective in Madeirans were Lavinia Silva and Carla Freitas (13 points each). In the Azoreans, the American duo Wallace (11) and Green (7) made a difference. The third period began badly for the CAB, with the departure of Carolina Scorcio due to a sprain suffered in a struggle for an offensive rebound. The athlete's exit further decreased the defensive and emphasizing capacity of Madeirans. Even showing great difficulty in adapting to Sportiva's defensive strategy and without playing well, the CAB reached the end of the third time to win by 57-47. In the fourth and final half, and with Carolina Escort back in the game, the CAB suffered the good suffering. After five minutes, the Amigas saw Sportiva reduce the time difference to nine points (60-51), when the Madeiran coach again asked for a time discount. Two 'bombs' followed by Joana Lopes and Carolina Escortius, who gave the CAB greater maneuver space (66-51). Always demonstrating a great fighting spirit, which is to praise and highlight, Sportiva approached, but Joana Lopes, with one more triple, placed the scorer in 69-58, with two minutes to play. Until the end, the CAB had a greater heart and more serenity in the decisive moments. The match smiled at friends for the result of 72-60, but Sportiva left an excellent image and demonstrated why it is one of the great teams of this edition of LFB. In individual terms: Joana Lopes (16), Carla Freitas (18), Lavinia Silva (13), Ashley Bruner (11), Marta Bravo (5), Carolina Escorcio (9).
