Today's match against the Torres Novas team was of particular importance to the Friends. It was their ability to react after the last weekend's departure from the Good Journey of the Azores. At the front they had a well organized and energetic team, which came from a victory the day before the EMAM. They were, uh, carrying the dice for an interesting basketball game. The match didn't start in the best way for the CAB. Despite presenting arguments superior to that of the opponent, the team guided by João Pedro denoted, in the early moments, some nervousness and lack of a guiding line of the game. Marta Bravo's outer releases and aggressiveness in the fight for Justina Udenze's tables allowed her friends, little by little, to find a more peaceful pace of play, which allowed them to reach the end of the first period to win by 26-20. In the second period, the house team was much more aggressive in the defensive chapter. This was the big difference from the first to the second half, and from the defense, the Madeirans knew how to build faster and more effective attack moves. In this sense, the house team began to take advantage of situations of advantage in the indoor game and also to operationalize a better and greater cake rotation. With the defense as the basis of everything, the CAB gained more rein and reached the break to win by 44-29. On the return of the locker rooms, she wondered if the friends would continue the good defensive performance. In the certainty that, if the defense worked well, the attack would arise naturally, the defense and the ability to gain conclusions were naturally the main concerns of those who were ‘torting’ by the CAB. The third period saw a CAB prove that he can defend and that he knows how to use defense as the basis of a structured game. Friends are back on track in pressure situations, and, except for one or the other mismatch in defensive exchanges, the CAB has managed to stop the opposing team. In the attack, Maria João took on a natural role, being well seconded by Justina Udenze, Marta Bravo, Christian Shelter and Carolina Escortius. The horn arrived with the marker in 69-41, favorable to the home team. In the fourth and final period, the CAB managed the advantage it managed to build during the match. Without ever disarming in defensive aspects, the Madeirans demonstrated a more fluid game and it was beautiful to see. Monica Luis and Ana Jardim, most used at this stage of the match, gave proof that they can count on them and helped the CAB cement a fair victory. Torres Novas was a just loser, who never disarmed, even when the point difference was significant. The final result was 88-59. In the form of a balance sheet, the CAB team has shown that it is more united and animistically solid. If there were doubts about our girls' ability to overcome, these doubts were dispelled and we can say that it was a real pleasure to see some smiles return to the (beautiful) faces of our athletes. Natural highlight for the performance and leadership of Maria João, who again demonstrated that she is the best Portuguese player in the League. Our Mary is a great source of pride for all CAB supporters and we know that with her, our team will always have strong leadership and an example to follow. Thank you, Maria! A word of recognition to Carolina Escorcio, Marta Bravo, Cintia France, Catarina Freitas and Carla Relva for demonstrating, within the field, that games are won with dedication and much sacrifice. May you continue your excellent work, for the team needs you very much!
