In the second game of the first hand of the Victor Hugo Cup, the CAB faced the Vagos. In a match held less than 24 hours after the Friends had faced (and defeated) Lousada, two of the best teams in the last editions of the Women's League were faced, as well as two great coaches: João Pedro Vieira, by CAB, and João Janeira, by Vagos. Friends, playing only their second game in this pre-season, found a Vagos, more rodqado and at a stage of preparation clearly more advanced than the Madeirans, who are still with an incomplete squad. However, in the first two periods of departure, these differences were not evident. On the contrary, Madeirans and continentals discussed the point-to-point result and basket-to-basket, with the interval arriving with the result at 41 points for each of the teams. Resuming the game was best for the Friends, but also full of emotion, which lasted until the end... Little by little, with knowledge and skill, the CAB players managed to build an advantage that, at some point, exceeded the ten points. However, the result of some deconcentration and errors that are normal at this stage of the time, the Friends were accumulating errors and faults. The Vagos was accumulating points and free throws, approaching dangerously on the marker and balancing the match. The exclusion, for lacks, of Carolina Escortius, and the accumulating of absences in other athletes who were being fundamental in the tactics of the CAB brought even more tension to the Bank of Friends and even feared a twist in the marker. However, in the final moments, the greater serenity and inspiration of Madeirans and their technician prevailed, with the result to be fixed at 80-78, favorable to the CAB. The victory against Vagos means that the CAB won the sporty right to participate in the Victor Hugo Cup Final Four. This phase of the competition is already in play next weekend, in place not yet announced by the Federation. In individual terms: Christian Shelter (37), Maria João (17), Carolina Escortius (8), Cintia France, Yasminne Chermiti, Marta Bravo (9), Diana Melim, Catarina Freitas (7), Ana Jardim (2) and Monica Luis.
