The women’s CAB team stamped this afternoon the ‘passport’ for the Women’s League Finals. The clearance of Madeirans came after the victory, outside the doors, on the Azorean formation of Sportiva by the result of 79-84, numbers that give the CAB an advantage in the partial of the victories of the ‘series’ disputed (2-1) and that allows the class oriented by João Freitas and Pedro Dias to be present on the stage where the National Champions team will be decided. The game began best for the Madeirans, who won the first period by 23-25. The slight punctual advantage revealed the great balance between the two formations, allowing for a match to be played until the end, as the winning formation would automatically move on to the next stage. In the second half, Sportiva was superior and won the partial by 22-16. Contrary to what had happened in the first period, the CAB was less assertive in the game and did not exploit its strengths so well in the offensive field. In defense, the CAB was also less consistent, a fact that was used by the Azoreans. In the third cover, the Madeirans were at a high level, winning the partial by 15-26 and reaching the ‘gate’ of the last period to win by 60-72. The advantage of the CAB resulted to a considerable extent from the defensive cohesion of the team, which was then converted into an intelligent selection of the releases made. Operating as a ‘all’ the CAB team put serious problems to those of the house, who could not overcome them as they wanted. In the fourth and last time, the pressure placed on the CAB was enormous. As a consequence, the punctual advantage, which was a dozen, was reduced to “only four points, when only a few minutes before the end of the meeting. However, once again, the Madeiran team demonstrated maturity and intelligence in the management of its game model, and, with great collective determination, resisted the advances of the Azoreans and sealed, by 79-84, a victory in a game that had nine alternations of leader.
