Friends present teams and host new sports year

It was in a climate of great celebration and fraternization that, this Saturday, the CAB opened the period 2013-2014. On a party afternoon, FAMILY CAB celebrated the sports and human ties that make the club a reference institution and affirmed its motivation for the sporting year that begins. It all started with lunch, organized by the Country Club, which brought together well over a hundred members and supporters of the club of Nazareth. As is typical of the social events of Friends, there was no lack of good mood, music and joy, adjectives that define the spirit of union of the family club. The ‘eats and babies’ gave way to the presentation of the teams, which allowed more than two hundred athletes to report to the hundreds that filled the stands of the pavilion. From the ‘baby’ to the seniors, the Friends showed why they are a truly inclusive club, which covers, in its road lines, athletes of different ages and social backgrounds – or were not the CAB the largest, most historical and most representative of all Madeiran basketball clubs. One of the highlights of the afternoon was the presentation of coaches, who form the core of CAB Training, a club that prides itself on being a true school of basketball and life. Remembering that the CAB is one of only seven Portuguese club that received from the Portuguese Basketball Federation the status of Clube Formador, which recognizes the excellence of the work developed in favor of the sports and human formation of athletes of several generations. In style, and with good sound, was made the entrance of the technical team of the two seniroes teams of the club. Faced with the surprise of the present, João Freitas, João Pedro, António Freitas and Ricardo Montes entered the pavilion mounted on powerful high-cylinder motorcycles with the noise of the engines filling the CAB Pavilion with enthusiasm. Undoubtedly a moment that will remain in memory. After the presentations, it was time for an intervention by Francisco Gomes, president of the CAB management, who welcomed the new year and asked the entire FAMILY CAB courage and commitment to managing the challenges facing the club in the pursuit of its social and sports goals. In an emotional message addressed to all present, the club leader praised the work performed by the staff, employees, coaches and leaders of the Friends, also praising the unique contribution that those in charge of education and athletes have made to the construction of a CAB that is great in Madeira and the country. Ending the period of intervention, Sidónio Fernandes, president of the General Assembly, spoke. As founding partner, in charge of education and member of FAMILY CAB, the historical leader of Friends recalled the evolution of the club, from its origins to the present moment, to highlight the adaptability that the institution has always had to the moments in which it lived. In an intervention that touched everyone present, Sidónio Fernandes also recalled the spirit of dedication that always guided the club's action, the forming role it has played over the decades and launched the motto for another year in the life of the institution that he helped to found almost 35 years ago. In conclusion, there was still time for the official photos of the teams that will represent the CAB in the 2013-2014 period and will spread the magic of Friends basketball in regional and national pavilions.
