Without Fabio Lima (injury to the knee), without Fred Gentry (injury to the thigh), without Carlos Bettencourt (injury to the knee), without João Fernandes (injury to the ankle), with Arvydas Gydra recovering from a leg injury and with Michael L’Africain and Stefan Djukic to overcome viruses, the CAB faced an Ovarense in maximum force. Although the working group is extremely limited, the result of various vicissitudes, the Friends approached the meeting with ambition and with great desire to win the game, but always knowing that, on the other hand, a team was going through a good time of form and that it would put many difficulties on them. The game began better for the CAB team, which, after the first few minutes, led by 7-0. Then came Ovarense's response, taking advantage of some of the home team's disagreements and moving ahead of the marker, even for a short time. There followed a phase of greater balance, with teams exchanging baskets, so the end of the first period was reached with the result in 18-19, in favour of continentals. In the second half, the CAB was much better collectively, both defensively and offensively. In defense, the CAB presented itself very fierce in the chapter of the caveats, and it is noteworthy the great delivery of players who act in areas closest to the table. Already in the attack, the Friends were very careful in managing the game, avoiding losses of ball, and also at the time of casting to the basket. The superiority of the Madeirans was so great that, in the last six minutes of the first part, the CAB made a partial of 20-5, not only scoring important points, but also covering the way to the basket to the northern players. Therefore, in all fairness, the interval arrived with the CAB in front of the result by 47-36. On the return of the locker rooms, the CAB was again superior and won the partial by 24-20, raising its advantage in the marker to71-56. At this stage, it was essential to adapt Madeirans to the defense zone mounted by Ovarense, which did not have the effect desired by visitors, because the CAB did not yield. In the last time, the balance was the dominant note, to be demonstrated by the result of the partial (20-20). Ovarense had a very aggressive attitude, giving everything to reverse the less favorable result. However, Friends demonstrated maturity and ability to comply precisely with the directives coming from the bank. It was also fundamental that the players inside the CAB, who were a constant presence in each ball match and gave the team a very strong strength that allowed them to play a great game. In the end, the victory was the CAB for the result of 91-76, which fairly reflects the merit of Friends. The CAB players and their technical team are to be congratulated because they have been proudly and exemplaryly able to overcome the great physical constraints of their squad and hold a great basketball match.
