Friends contribute three players to the chosen fourteen

Fourteen athletes are chosen to complete the next stage of preparation of the National Selection of Male Seniors and it will be from this lot that will come out the twelve names that will defend the colors of Portugal in the pre-qualification with a view to participating in the World Cup 2019. Highlight the fact that, among the lot of the chosen ones, there are three players who defended the CAB at the time it concluded recently, namely Fábio Lima, Pedro Belo and Stefan Djukic. In fact, the CAB is the club with the most players in the National Selection, matched only by Benfica, which also contributes three players to the fourteen chosen. The National Selection of Male Seniors begins work on July 2, with the concentration scheduled for the Grande Hotel do Luso, where the team of quinas will remain until July 16. On 5 July, the ‘Media Day’ is scheduled to be held, which includes the signing ceremony of a protocol with the City Council of Mealada and the presentation of the International Luso Tournament, which runs from 14 to 16 of the same month and which has the selections of Estonia and Romania. Then, the Luso group travels to Skopje (Macedonia), to participate in a tournament where it will measure forces with the congeners of Macedonia, the Netherlands and Bosnia and Herzegovina, between 20 and 22 July, and return to national soil for the International Tournament of Vila Real, with the selections of Tunisia and Algeria, scheduled for 26, 27 and 28 July. The pre-qualification for the 2019 World Cup starts on 2 August in Sines, in front of Bulgaria. A week later, on the 9th, Portugal travels to Minsk to confront Belarus and three days later, on the 12th of August, measures forces with Bulgaria in Botevgrad. To close this phase, the team of quinas welcomes Belarus in Coimbra on 19 August.
