The inaugural journey of the Men's League led the men's team of the CAB to the cradle city, to confront Guimarães, a team that, already a very solid and well oriented formation, which strengthened very well during the summer. The men of João Freitas, who woke up at 5 a.m. to make an early journey to the north of the country, thus faced a very competitive team, with a squad with several options and arguments, and who wanted to take the formation of the CAB of the winner to better begin their participation in the League edition. On the Madeiran side, ambition was the same. The game began best for the CAB team, which won the first period by the result of 24-26. In the first ten minutes, the Madeira team demonstrated aggressiveness and cohesion in defense, as well as a good sense of opportunity in the attack, which allowed them to exploit effectively the weaknesses that the opponent demonstrated in defending his own basket. However, in the second period, the history of the game was different. The CAB revealed some deconcentration in both areas of the field, which resulted in more ball possessions for the opponent, and consequently more points for Guimarães. Northern players won the second period by the result of 16-12, reaching the range in superiority in the match by 40-38. It should be noted, at the interval, the superiority of Guimarães in the rebound (21 won against only 14 of the CAB), as well as the superiority of the vimarans in the chapter of the use of the releases of the three points (48% for Guimarães against only 24% of the CAB). On the contrary, the Friends were better in the ball robberies (5 won) and were also perfect in the free throw chapter, with full use of the opportunities enjoyed. On the return of the locker rooms, the balance was once again the dominant score between the two teams. Every time Guimarães tried to shoot the marker, the CAB men would cancel the advantage and balance the match again. From side to side, no one disarmed, watching a total delivery of the athletes who dignified the game and also the modality. The third period ended with the result in 59-56, favorable to the men of the house. In the fourth period, both teams knew that it was time for 'all or nothing', because it was necessary to give as much to win the victory and open the League as possible. Imbued by this combative spirit, Guimarães and CAB offered many combat and delivery moves on both sides of the CAB. In fact, emotion was what did not miss the meeting. An example of this is the fact that, two minutes from the end, the game was tied to 74, with the game being able to hang anywhere. A minute and a half from the heat, the advantage was for Guimarães, but only for one point, with the result in 77-76. However, at the time of the decisions, Guimarães' team was more focused, more attentive and present, and managed to win. The hands of the players in the house didn't shake. An unsportsmanly lack of a CAB athlete when only seconds of play were missing and Madeirans were losing by only 86-81. The final result was, favorable to Guimarães. Well, congratulations to the men of the city for the way they beat themselves up. Congratulations are also being paid to the CAB men, for they have done everything to bring a different result to Madeira, slipping only in details that have proved fatal.
