The formation of the CAB moved to Ovar to play the first game of the regular phase of the Professional League. From the front, the Friends had the experienced and competitive formation of Ovarense, with evidence given in national basketball and a squad that strengthened during the summer to attack the top seats of the championship. The CAB entered the game well and revealing that it was in Ovar to discuss the match, eyes-eyes with the opponent. At this early stage of the match, the Friends had their main offensive references in athletes Stefan Djukic and Jorge Coelho, very well accompanied by Aaron Jordan, who was also doing a good coordination of the attacks of the CAB. However, Ovarense soon reacted, and when it was two minutes before the first half, it tied the game to 18 points. The offensive merit of the Ovarense in reaching the draw was accompanied by the demerit of the CAB, which demonstrated some weakness in the defensive sector, especially in preventing the penetration of the men of the house. As a result, Ovarense continued to rise, and at the end of the first period, the marker marked 26-23 in favor of the rods. In the second period, the CAB saw itself playing without its American base, temporarily away from the match by accumulating three fouls. The coordination of the CAB attack resented this lack, with Friends showing some discoordination. Adding to this, the CAB was also less effective in the launch chapter. In defense, the difficulties in rotations and defensive aid continued, with Ovarense taking advantage to score decisive points, which kept the men of the house ahead. The interval arrived with the marker in 37-33, in favor of Ovarense. The match reminisced with Ovarense scoring three triples. The men of the house returned from the spas determined to dominate the match and had at the outside launch their main attack reference. The CAB had difficulty in stopping the arguments of the house, and, with five minutes played in the third half, the difference between the teams was already ten points (46-36). The CAB still tried to respond, being, at the moment, Sampson Carter of the most unconformed. However, the rods kept their distance and reached the end of the half-hour game to win by 60-46. In the fourth period, defensive weaknesses continued to compromise the CAB's grid and sincere effort. In spaces, the team revealed interesting details, both in defense and attack, leaving positive indications for the future. However, in the overall sum of the factors, the defence was clearly the weakness of the Madeirans. As a result, Ovarense continued to add points, despite the enormous delivery of CAB men to respond 'in the same currency'. When only three minutes left to play, the house continued to win by 70-56, a point difference that reflected what was going on in the field and that remained until the end, with the rods winning the meeting by 76-61. Despite defeat, CAB formation has every reason to be confident in the future and believe that things can improve. With work and concentration, our young squad will certainly turn the faults committed and we all believe that in the next game, against Oliveirense, we will see a winning CAB. In individual terms: Aaron Jordan (12), Stefan Djukic (10), Jovonni Schuler (13), Jorge Coelho (13), Frederico Tavares (4) and Sampson Carter (9).
