In the second game of the third edition of the CAB Cup, the men's CAB team measured forces with the British of Midnight Madness. The meeting was the first of three games that the two formations will play during the event. The training led by João Paulo Silva (‘Juca’), who has been working since last Monday, had the first opportunity to evaluate the state of his preparation in this pre-season, testing his current capabilities against a selection of English players. On the other side, Midnight Madness's team, a very athletic and high-potential group, promised not to make life easy for the house. And in fact, the game didn't start out the best for the Madeirans. With 5 minutes of play, the Friends lost by 5-10, a result that reflected the greater physical presence of the English in the areas near the basket. By the end of the first half, the CAB did everything to row against the tide, but reached the end of the first 10 minutes at a disadvantage, by 12-21. In the second half, the CAB entered determined to reverse the game situation. As a result, Friends showed greater dynamism, as well as greater ability to contain Midnight Madness's inner game. In the launch chapter, the percentages mirrored the fact that we are at the beginning of the season, with the CAB not being as effective as it will certainly be in the future (in the range, 45% in the 2 points and 15% in the 3 points). Even so, the CAB won the second half by 20-17, reaching the interval to lose by ‘only’ 6 points (32-38). On the return to the game, the CAB returned to a strong pace, but Midnight Madness conspiring to explore its main weapons, especially the penetration and the next game of the basket. Gradually, the CAB seemed to take over the reins of the meeting, making smarter choices in its attack options. So much so that, with three periods of play, the difference between the two teams was only 3 points, with the marker to be scored 50-53, in favor of visitors. In the last period, the CAB, which was describing an upward route, showed some tiredness, mirrored in less enlightened decisions in the game. On the other hand, the English, without showing any major changes in their style of play, stated the dominance, very anchored in Orlan Jackman's game, which ended the meeting with 35 points and 15 points. In the final straight, and already playing against time, the Friends still tried everything-for-all, but the victory would be English by 74-78. In individual terms: Austin Richie (11), José Correia (3), Diogo Ventura (9), Fabio Lima (19), Jorge Coelho (13), Stuart Sullivan (8) and Anthony Hill (11). Hola surpasses Midnight Madness In the opening game of III CAB Cup, the Spanish of CREF Hola, where Madeiran Maria João Correia, confronted the English women of Midnight Madness. Throughout the meeting, the potential differences between the two formations were evident, with the Spanish mastering the match. An example of this is the evolution of the marker: 25-17 (1p), 48-23 (2p), 70-32 (3p) and 99-43 (final). In individual terms, the highest highlights in the Spanish team were Leary (15 points), and Amukamora (15 points). Maria João recorded 6 points and 3 points. In English, Ofamata (15 points) and Young (9 points) were the most unconformed.
