The men's team of the CAB moved to the continental portion of the Portuguese Republic to compete for the first game of a double journey that only ends Sunday afternoon. At today's meeting, the Friends measured strength with Illiabum, a team that is holding a good time and would require the Madeirans to concentrate as much as possible. The game began better for the CAB team, which, in the middle of the first period, was already leading by 5-12. To the advantage of the CAB much contributed to its good defensive posture, which forced several ball losses on the home team, from which resulted several rapical attacks that men in red could convert into points. After a time-out requested by the house team, Illiabum reacted and managed to jam the difference in the marker for the CAB (19-25). this was mainly due to three plays of the house team that resulted in triple notes. However, the CAB's response was not expected, with Friends also scoring their points and finishing the first half ahead by 19-30, including a clear release of Fabio Lima on the horn. In the second period, Illiabum entered better and, for most of the partial, was more effective than the CAB. In fact, with six minutes of play, the part recorded in the second half was 15-12, in favour of the house, which reflected the ascendancy of the continental team. However, Friends responded with more concentration and balanced the game. In good time they did so, because not only did they win the partial (20-25) but they reached the interval ahead by 39-55. In the regent of the locker rooms, the CAB, leading for sixteen points, showed some deconcentration, which was well-used by the players of the house to reduce the loss to 47-59, with five minutes played in the partial. In the following minutes, the CAB sought to react, what it managed to do, bringing new balance to the game and preserving its advantage, which was 54-70 when it was two minutes before the end of the period. Until the end of the partial, the situation remained the same, with half an hour of play ending with the Madeirans leading 56-71. In the last time, the house's people came back better and recorded a 10-3 partial in the first three minutes of the partial. The Friends were not intimidated by the more aggressive posture of the men of Ilhavo and kept their punctual advantage in the home of the ten points. The Madeiran game management capacity was proving to be fundamental, especially in the last few minutes of play, when the house's tried 'all-for-all' and the CAB already accused some signs of physical fatigue. With less than two minutes to play, and after several failures in the CAB attack, the householders reduced the scorer to 79-82. This forced the Friends' Bank to ask for a time discount, which had positive effects, as the CAB scored six points, which put the result in 80-86, with forty seconds to play. Until the end, a real game of nerves was seen, but the Friends had greater discernment, winning by 84-87.
