Next Monday, 9 December, the CAB’s male team will take part in the ‘March for Inclusion’. The event, which is organized by the Occupational Activities Center of Câmara de Lobos (CAOCL), aims to raise awareness among the population about the cause of people with special needs. The Friends thus try, with their presence, to give even more strength and social focus to a situation that often goes unnoticed in the eyes of most citizens. CAOCL is an institution that provides support to the population with special needs aged 16 years and over. Currently, the institution has registered 35 young people and adults with various disabilities, from the various parishes of Câmara de Lobos. As a way of sensitizing the community in general to the theme of difference and inclusion, CAOCL has been celebrating the Regional Week of the Person with Special Needs (SRPNE) for some years. This year’s programme includes the ‘March for Inclusion’, where schools, institutions, associations and diverse entities will be brought together who want to face this cause, including the CAB-Madeira professional team. According to Francisco Gomes, president of the CAB, “The participation of our professionals in this event is the continuation of a social work that our club has been doing in recent years and that, for us, is as important as the sports values that guide us.” According to the leader of Friends, “Participation in the ‘March for Inclusion’ was a voluntary initiative of our players, which well elucidates the human qualities of the people who defend our sweater at the highest level. As president of the club, I couldn’t be prouder of my boys.”
