In the last game before Christmas and New Year's holidays, the men's team received the Sampaense, a formation with which they are in a close fight in the ranking. The game, therefore, was anticipated of risk and balance for both formations, as the victory would bring a qualifying advantage to the club to conquer it, while the defeat would cause the team to suffer an inevitable descent of places. The match started best for the CAB team. Exploring very well the quick exits in the counter-attack, the result of an organized defense, the CAB quickly dominated the opponents and, after 5 minutes of play, was ahead by 11-2. There was a less achieved period in the part of the house, with some defensive flaws and less aggressiveness in the chapter of the uprising, but still, the first half ended with the Madeirans in front by 27-17. In the second half, the collective attitude of Friends was very strong, with Aaron Jordan (19) and Tommie Eddie (17) taking on some leading role in terms of points scored, but accompanied by a very cohesive group. Even when the CAB coach had to resort to some rotations, the athletes who were called to contribute, especially Frederico Tavares and Carlos Bettencourt, were up to the task and contributed with precious points and the necessary defensive delivery. Unsurprisingly, the CAB domain continued over the second ten minutes, allowing men in red to win the second half by 26-21 and reach the interval at the front of the marker, which marked 53-38 when the teams picked up at the locker rooms. In resuming the meeting, the CAB went in very badly, accusing deconcentration and some lack of understanding. In this phase of the meeting, Sampaense excelled in the fight for tables and effectively explored the defensive weaknesses revealed by Friends. As a consequence, the punch difference between the teams reduced, and even if the CAB kept the lead, reaching the end of the third period ahead by 77-67. In the fourth and final period CAB and Sampaense fought for each possession of ball, leading the game to a level of truly frenzy competitiveness. At each point of the CAB, the Sampaense responded in equal currency, with no certainty on the marker that would allow any of the groups to rest. However, the greater serenity of the Madeirans in the key moments allowed the CAB to win for the result of 103-95, thus confirming its first victory within the present time. In individual terms: Aaron Jordan (35), Jose Correia (3), Carlos Bettencourt (2), Tommie Eddie (28), Stefan Djukic (11), Jovonni Schuler (16), Frederico Tavares (8).
