CAB and Ovarense played a game in Funchal on the sixth day of LPB. The game had several reasons of interest: on the one hand, the Friends, who did not want to take off the front block and keep the third place they occupied at the beginning of the journey; on the other hand, in recent years, the duels between the two teams have been particularly exciting, which made it possible to see an afternoon of great competitiveness in the CAB Pavilion. In the preview of the match, a natural highlight for the limited squad of Friends, which, to add to the reduced number of athletes, would have to rely, even more, on the departure of Jorge Coelho (to recover from a knee intervention) and Jorge Freitas (also affected by an injury in the knee zone). Given all this, the game would require the CAB a great spirit of sacrifice and an extraordinary ability to play as a team. We would see if João Freitas' men would be up to the challenge. The CAB got into the game very well and betting heavily on the defense. João Freitas' team set up their defensive scheme very well and managed to stop the main weapons of Ovarense, which was not finding solutions to overcome the barrier mounted by Friends. In the attack, the fluidity of the movement of the house team was a real headache for the poles. With Jobi Wall taking on some prominence for the number of releases of two and three scored points, the CAB formation ended the period to be won by 23-16. In the second period, the CAB domain continued. Although they had a much larger squad than the CAB, visitors had no response to the Friends game. Collectively, João Freitas' team was very strong and able to make very cosistent selections. The offensive weapons were many and were appearing frequently and effectively. In defense, the superiority of Friends continued, winning the chapter of the caveats and forcing several losses of ball in the visiting formation. The interval arrived with the marker in 46-30, being noteworthy, at this stage of the meeting, the superiority of the CAB in terms of caveats (16 gains against 10 of Ovarense), in the use of the three points (36% against 22%) and in the robberies ball (5 against 3). In fact, the CAB was playing a great game. On his return from the locker rooms, he was better off in Ovarense. The rods knew that if they didn't do anything to override the CAB's strengths, they'd see the game escape. Therefore, visitors used all resources within their reach to bring instability to the men of the house. The strategy adopted and the tactics employed produced the desired result, and in the third thirty minutes visitors recorded some ascendant. At the end of the third period, the result was 66-57, still favourable to the CAB. The fourth and last period was expected to be decisive, as Ovarense was in the ascendancy and the CAB base, RIcky Franklin, an element with great einfluence on the team, was getting problems with faults. With only 3 minutes played, and the result of accumulating various situations recorded during the match, the Friends base is excluded by accumulation of faults, with Fábio Lima having to assume the responsibility of leading the CAB attack. The last seven minutes of the meeting were lived with great emotion, with the team of the house demonstrating great group spirit. Fabio Lima has done very well, demonstrating all the enormous potential and talent that has been pointed out to him over the years. The CAB athlete is living a dreamy time and our wish is to continue to contribute, with great exhibitions, such as the Portuguese club and basketball today. It also highlights all the other members of the team who contributed to the most important victory. Everyone, without exception, was part of a 'red armada' that refused to give in to the schisms, even when they were adverse, and that they were able to transpose into the field all the determination that is characteristic of our great club. Ovar's men tried to counter the superiority of the Friends, but today, in fact, the day was CAB. The final result was 88-75.
