It will take place on 2 February between 10 and 5 p.m., in the Sports Complex of the Naval Club of Funchal, the Solidary Aquatic Basketball Tournament 2013, an initiative that takes place for the second consecutive year as a result of a synergy between the Naval Club of Funchal, the CAB-Madeira and the Portuguese Association of Disabilities and that this year counts on the sponsorship of the Pharmacy of Nazareth from an perspective of community responsibility of the latter, taking into account that all these institutions are in the same locality. The initiative is based on an innovative sports concept, in that it associates Basketball with Swimming, through an adaptation of the basketball field, with tables, markers and basketball to a pool of 20 square meters in an event that promotes fair play, citizenship and solidarity and aims to awaken attention to the practice of synergies between clubs, institutions and companies that promote accessibility to sports practice for any type of person. There will be games throughout the day, starting with Mini-10 and Mini-12 matches, followed by a competitive tournament. At the same time, there will be outside the facilities of the Complex, a conviviality with stalls of comees and babies and musical animation, which aims to raise funds to support the modalities of Basketball and Swimming of the respective clubs. The entrance is clear. According to Francisco Gomes, president of CAB-Madeira, "This event, which is already going to its second edition, demonstrates the strength of partnerships and proves that, despite the difficulties that cross-borderly affect all sports institutions, there is always creativity, will and space to act in the name of solidarity and support those who need it most." For the head of the CAB FAMILY, "This water basketball tournament is an example of Sport at Causes Services. Because it is an essentially human activity, it makes perfect sense that Sport is focused on improving the human condition and is celebrated as a vector of social mobilization for great values and principles."
