The day began early for our Under-14 Women's Team, which, by 10:30, was already in the field facing the GDESSA team. The Lisboners brought the lesson well studied and were determined to counter the CAB. However, those commanded by Faty Silva won the first period by 15-5. In the second half, the Madeirans were a little below what they know how to play, reaching the interval to lose by 21-22. However, after a break that served to gain new concentration, the Friends reached the end of the third half ahead by 45-22 and eventually won the game by 51-33. In the afternoon, the CAB measured forces with the CPN, a team that played at home. The duel placed face-to-face the two best-ranked teams of the National Championship, being therefore a kind of early ending. The game began best for the CPN team, which won the first half by 13-8. In the second period, superiority was the formation of the CAB, which, never lowering the arms and showing all its determination, turned the marker and reached the interval in front by 17-20. On the return of the locker rooms, the CAB team was back a little below normal pay, accusing some tiredness. Therefore, the CPN cancelled the punctual advantage of the Friends and ended the third time ahead by 36-32. In the fourth period, unfit for heart disease, the friends gave everything to win. Our players were true 'professionals', such as the level of their delivery during the game. However, in the final phase of the game, the CPN managed to nullify the ascendant that had been demonstrated by the Madeirans in the last time and tied the game to 46-46, forcing the extension. A three-prolonged saga In prolongation, the CAB was higher during the overwhelming majority of the time. However, as happened in the fourth period, the young friends yielded in the final part, allowing the CPN to cancel the advantage they had in the marker. The result, at the end of the first half, was a new draw to 51-51, which led to a second extension. In the second extension, the pressure around the game, which was already being raised (it did not seem that we were in a game of Initiates!...), grew, with the effects to make themselves felt in the performance of all teams that were in the field. The CAB gave a large replica and dominated the events. However, and much of the free throw, the CPN kept up with the Madeirenses. In the 'point-ca-point-there', the CAB had some bad luck because, despite the superiority it was demonstrating, it was tied to 59-59 and to hands with a third extension. In the third extension, the tiredness and wear of the enormous pressure that was felt inside the pavilion managed to bring the best about our 'girls'. The CPN, with a full pavilion pulling for itself, managed to shoot the marker, with the friends no longer able to keep up. In the end, the victory was from the home team by 63-72, a result that in no way mirrors the enormous performance of the CAB and the microscopic distance to which they had from the victory. But today wasn't CAB day... The CAB's Official Site cannot but express its enormous pride in our team, true champions of determination, claw, intensity... of everything that makes a great team! You have shown, within the field, that you are much larger than the geographically small island you come from, because you have shown the whole country the quality of your work and the grandeur of your will. They were - as they always are - examples of what it is to play a great basketball! A word of praise and gratitude to the team's coaches (Faty, Rafael and Davide), who have been real leaders in the team's training process. If it is true that the posture of teams within the field mirrors your leadership, then it is obvious that more than coaches, you are true leaders and trainers of great players. Tomorrow, the friends will play again, but this time against Benfica. The game will be in the morning, with the CAB's return to Madeira taking place on Monday morning.
