The women's CAB team debuted on III. CAB Cup in front of the Spanish CREF Hola. The team in the neighbouring country is already at an earlier stage of its preparation and its provision within the field reflects that. In addition, CREF Hola is a training with a budget much higher than that of the CAB and it strengthened very well during the summer to attack the Spanish First League, which is the division in which milita. Even so, despite the theoretical disadvantage, the CAB entered the game very well and dominated the first minutes of the meeting. The Friends showed great delivery from the start, and although they still denote tactical failures resulting from the reduced preparation time (only 3 days of train with the complete squad), John Peter's pupils exhibited interesting details. Despite all this, the Spanish reached the end of the first period ahead by 14-20. In the second half, Trainer João Pedro experienced various tactical schemes and defensive strategies that aimed to ascertain the response of her players. Friends reacted less constantly, alternating periods of good benefit with less successful periods of benefit. On the other side, CREF Hola was more constant and much more effective in launching, especially in 3-point releases. Without surprise, the Spanish women spread the advantage they already had from the first period and called the interval to be won by 25-35, despite the very combative spirit of the house. In the third half, the CAB again exhibited good basketball moments and interesting combinations, both among its interior players and in the overall scope of the team. The Madeirans again showed good signs that they have room to grow as a team, but the domain was once again Spanish, which reached the end of the period ahead by 44-55. In the last period, the CAB reported accumulated fatigue and lack of training together. As a result, the point distance to CREF Hola dilated, with the CAB sliding more significantly on the marker. Visitors eventually won the game by 56-80, but the Friends left clear indications that, with work and focus, they can build a very interesting team. In individual terms: Cintia France (6), filipa Bernardeco (2), Joana Lopes (2), Marta Bravo (2), Leonor Nunes (3), Aleighsa Welch (13), clara Solé (5), Carolina Scorcio (2) and Morgan Bailey (21).
