As is generally known, cancer has been increasing in recent times, knocking on our doors and entering, without asking permission to sit down. Unfortunately, every day a new cancer patient appears, and, no matter how much science or research works hard to solve this problem, it is a real duty of civil society to help all those affected by this condition. In this sense, the CAB-Madeira was once again associated with a social cause, and, in partnership with the Portuguese League against Cancer (LPCC), it organizes a basketball game whose benefits are in favor of cancer patients and their families. Under the motto ‘A Basket for a Cause’, the match takes place on 21 November, at 8 p.m., in the CAB Pavilion, opposing two teams of faces of our society. The event promises to be animated, full of music, surprises and lots of fun. As a ‘special ingredient’, it should be noted that the game will bring together some of the most sounding names in our community, not only in the social sphere, but also in the sports sphere, which felt it was right to give their energy and their contribution to this initiative. It is also noted that the initiative is already in its third edition, being confirmed the presence of people, such as Mafalda Freitas, Petra Camacho, Filipe Bazenga Marques, Sandra Rebolo, Isabel Pascoal, Sidónio Fernandes, Mário Gil Fernandes, Carlos Pereira, Vânia Jesus, Paulo Almada, Bruna Melim, David Sousa, Maurício Melim, Ricardo Oliveira, Sara André, Edgar Garrido and Rui Mâncio, among others. For Francisco Gomes, President of the CAB-Madeira, the third edition of ‘A Basket for a Cause’ is “proof that the CAB does not limit its scope of action to Sport, but, on the contrary, has a genuine, continuous Social Mission, which is taken very seriously and which is seen as as as as important as any basketball success for which we can compete.” According to the head of the CAB FAMILY, “Cancer is a condition against which none of us are immune, so it is our duty to associate ourselves with such a Noble struggle, as is that of the oncologic struggle, raising awareness of the community’s urgency to support this Cause and alerting to the reality that, together, we can and will make a difference in the lives of the people affected.” Without a doubt, this will be a unique game and not to forget!
