On 6 June, a Friday, at 8 p.m., the Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC) brings together the women's teams of the CAB and Madeira Andebol in an initiative unprecedented in the name of the cancer cause. In the context of the CAB Pavilion, the stars of the two clubs will test their talents: in the first part, of basketball, the handball players will try to be at the rhythm of the Amigas; in the second part, it will be the Madeira SAD to test the ability to finish the CAB. As a curiosity, to note the fact that these two teams were, in their respective modalities, the winners of the Portuguese Cup of the current season. It will therefore be a real game of champions, both in sport and in dedication to noble causes. In addition to athletes from both clubs, the game will have a number of 'probable heroes', that is, women from various quadrants of Madeiran society who have accepted the challenge of joining this initiative and who will test their sports skills. The names already confirmed include Paula Saldanha, Licinia Macedo, Bruna Melim, Tânia Spínola, Fabíola Pereira, Fátima Aveiro, Paula Vieira and Sara Student. Because the Santos Populares court is approaching, the game between the CAB and Madeira SAD will be followed by a Santos Populares Supper, to be held in the restaurant attached to the CAB Pavilion. The meal is open to all and the benefits generated will reverberate fully in favour of the Regional Center of the LPCC as a way of helping the organization in its important mission to the cancer cause and all those affected by it. "It is with great pride that the CAB is once again associated with the Oncology Cause through an initiative that has both original and unpublished," said Francisco Gomes, president of the CAB. According to the leader of Friends, "Behind the game and the conviviality that follows him, the message to be conveyed is simple: this is a cause that belongs to all of us, so it is our duty to make every contribution to those who suffer under this condition know that they are not alone in their daily battles against a disease to which no one is immune." In conclusion, Francisco Gomes says, "Congratulations must be given to the CAB and Madeira SAD, as they demonstrate that true champions are not only those who win titles, but also those who humbly put sport at the service of the causes and people who need our support most. This is what sport should be." Ricardo Sousa, president of the Regional Center of the LPCC, took the opportunity to thank the mentors of this initiative, Francisco Gomes and Rafaela Fernandes, the champion teams of the CAB and Madeira SAD, all the 'athletes' invited and who came to give a special shine to the competition, to all participated and finally to the two great organizers Cláudia Gonçalves and Helena Toste who put the idea on the ground with great success. According to the Nucleus President, "These actions represent the hope that those who have been taken by cancer will not be forgotten, that those who are fighting cancer will be supported and that one day cancer will be won. Thank you so much for helping us make a difference in the fight against cancer."
