By 76-79 the CAB was defeated by Academic in the fifth and final game of the semifinals. The result allows the Academic to advance to the final of the League, where he will face Benfica, while for the CAB, it is the end of the most sacrificed and exhausting year in the history of the Club. The game began well for the Friends and ran within what João Freitas had planned for approximately three periods. Unfortunately for those of the house, the fourth and final period, which, ironically, is usually the phase of the game in which the CAB is stronger and more concentrated, was the phase of the wear and tear of Madeirans. On the side of the Academic, there is merit in the way the weaknesses of the Friends were explored and also in the way that, in crucial moments, the visitors did not tremble. The evolution of the marker was as follows: 21-15 (1P), 38-29 (2P), 59-59 (3P) and 76-79 (final). It is still too early to explain everything this time meant to the CAB, all the adversities that the club faced and the way in which, faced with each barrier, men and women who in common have a huge passion for this club joined together to fight the obstacles. What happened throughout the year probably won't be recorded in any history book. It will be engraved in the hearts and minds of those who, in the face of the greatest difficulties, have never hesitated to come to the front line and fight every battle as if it were the greatest and last of their lives. Those, they don't need words or 'thank you'. For these, all that cannot be described in words is expressed here. For John, Toni, Paula, Diogo and all the boys - a real family - what was conquered and learned in this year of struggle will be remembered as a great test of the character and personality of each - which was overcome day after day, week after week, month after month. Someone one day said "Adversity does not build character - it reveals it" - and this whole team proved it is made of Men of Character, of Claw. of Courage and of great Passion for the CAB. Today, the doors of the pavilion are open, witnessing a struggle we continue to win against so many 'funerals' that we have wanted to do. The road continues and is faced, as always, with its head held high.
