CAB and Vitória played the fourth game of the first playoff of the Men's League in Funchal. After losing in the first game, the CAB had managed to turn the qualifier in its favor with two consecutive wins, one in Guimarães and the other yesterday afternoon, already in Funchal. The game was high risk for both teams, because in the case of the Madeirans, victory would give direct access to the final half, while in the case of victory of the continentals, the two teams would go to an ever dramatic fifth game, to compete in the north of the country. So, more than tactics and technique, what was played in the fourth game of elimination was the desire to win. The 'race' factor and the 'determination' element would be fundamental for both sides. With the climate between the two formations totally 'access', given the competitive and very physical character of the elimination, the ingredients were gathered for an extremely disputed game. The match started better for the home team. With 2 minutes of play, the CAB led by 5-0, but since then, the Victory has not only balanced the game but has moved ahead. The recovery of the continentals was due to a mixture of failed releases by the Friends, as well as a more porous defensive provision, which was exploited by the visitors with merit. At this stage of the meeting, Jovonni Schuler, who had been most "delete" in yesterday's game, led the best scorers with 7 points. However, the most valued athlete was the base of the opposing team, Douglas Wiggins, who scored 6 points and 2 assists. In the second period, the CAB came back in a very strong way and, with part-time play, balanced the marker in 32-32. A great deal was believed in the CAB Pavilion, with a very pleasant human frame to 'wish' by the house team. However, taking advantage of some of the CAB's disarrays, in two consecutive attacks, the Victoria went back to the marker and to build a comfortable margin, in 32-38. Without losing its temper, the CAB regained the collective spirit that defines its action as a team. Exploring its strengths, namely Jovonni Schuler and Tommie Eddie, the CAB made a recovery. However, it was insufficient to match the game, so the teams collected the locker rooms with the result in 39-41, in favor of the continentals. With half a game played, the most effective in Friends were Jovoni Schuler (13) and Tommie Eddie (15). In Vitória, Douglas Wiggins (11) and Jose Silva (10) were the best annotators. In the chapter of the leaps, the Victory took advantage (16-13), while in the losses of the ball, the teams were tied (4-4). On the return to the game, the CAB entered with a strong attitude and even won the period by 20-14. The Friends were very aggressive in the defense and, from various balls stolen to the opponent and added gains in their table, developed a fluid attack game, with emphasis on the performance of Jovonni Schuler. At the end of three periods, the extreme of the CAB already counted 19 points, being well supported by Tommie Eddie, author of 18 points. At the entrance to the last quarter of the game, the scorer scored 59-55. High concentration was required from the CAB. However, from the bank, Pedro Pinto, athlete of Vitória, performed a very good performance and galvanized the visiting team. Marking 7 points in 10 minutes, some of them in decisive phases of the meeting, the continental player was a headache for the defense of Friends. The CAB, in turn, could not manage the final release of the game in the best way, and, as a consequence, a tie to 77-77 was recorded, with the game being taken for extension. In the extension, which lasted 5 minutes, the CAB was lower. For this they contributed to the exclusion of the game, due to failure, of players Jorge Coelho, Tommie Eddie and Aaron Jordan, crucial parts of the collective dynamics of Friends. Despite the grand surrender of the players called to play this crucial phase of the game, the CAB failed to respond to the victory offensive, and, losing the extension by 10-15, lost the game by 87-92. The outside game of Vitória worked very well, with the trio formed by Doug Wiggins (24 points, 4 caveats, 4 assists and 3 ball robberies), Pedro Pinto (16 points, 2 caveats and 2 assists) and José Silva (17 points and 5 caveats) to show themselves to a good level. The American CAB, Jovonni Shuler, MVP of the game with 28 of valorization, was the best scorer of the game with 31 points, followed by his countryman Tommie Eddie, author of 22 points and 8 points. Despite the result, which forces the Madeiran team to play a decisive game on Wednesday, in Guimarães, it is fair to highlight the commitment and delivery of the class commanded by João Paulo Silva. Once again, the 'our boys' left everything they had in the field, and, deserving another outcome, dignified the shirt they wear.
