The women's CAB team faced the Good Journey in the semifinals of the Federation Cup. The game took place right after the other half-final, so the two teams entered the field already knowing that one of the finalists was GDESSA, precisely the home team. Madeirenses and Azoreans were going to decide, among themselves, which team would be present at the big end of Sunday, in a game where all the pressure was on the CAB team. The match began with a somewhat hesitant CAB, but the Friends quickly overcame this phase and, in the middle of the first half, won by 5-13. A discount of the Azoreans' time was followed to try to reverse the course of the events, but the interruption did not result in the results desired by the Good Journey, because the CAB reached the end of the first half in front of the marker by 14-23. In the second period, the Good Journey entered uninhibited and determined to reverse the course of events. With 5 minutes of play, the Azoreans had taken advantage of the difficulty that the CAB was revealing in scoring points and, performing a 9-6 partial, reduced the punctual disadvantage to 23-29. Coach João Pedro followed, dissatisfied with what he was seeing, asking for a time-out, which had a positive effect on the team because it led to some change of attitude on the Madeiran side. More assertive, the Friends managed to win the partial by 17-21 and reached the interval to win by 31-44. At this stage of the meeting, it was clear that the CAB was recording higher rates of implementation than the opponents (70% effectiveness in launchings against 38% of the Good Journey), as well as a more significant domain of emphasis (18 gains against 7 of the Azoreans). However, the CAB also accused 11 ball losses, which had allowed Boa Viagem to perform 8 robberies (against only 6 of the Friends), worrying aspects that the CAB coaches would certainly review in the interval to increase the aggressiveness and tranquility of the Friends. On the return of the locker rooms, the balance was the dominant score between the two teams. This balance gave motivation to the Good Journey, which believed that it could turn the game in its favor. However, the CAB returned to take over the reins of the meeting, and, following the game wire, performed a partial of 0-11 that placed the marker in 37-59, when it was 5 minutes to play in the third half. In the minutes that followed, the superiority of the CAB (finally!) came to the top, with the Friends marking points from various areas of the field and closing ranks in defense. The result was the shooting of the CAB to an advantage of 30 points on the marker, which accused 39-69 at the end of the third period, favorable to Madeirans. In the last time, the CAB managed the conquered advantage, but never slowed down in the intensity with which it carried out its offensive and defensive plan. Always taking advantage of their union and collective value, the Friends continued to dominate the game and won the match by 46-83. A final note of praise for the careful way the CAB prepared the game and knew how to implement a defensive plan that limited the main references of the opponents. It is also important to highlight the clever way in which the team has managed to overcome less successful periods of offensive effectiveness, insisting on their attack models, with which the team is well acquainted and which have resulted in a significant score. In individual terms: Joana Lopes (8), Aleighsa Welch (15), Marta Bravo (2), Ejay Ofomata (13), Carolina Scorcio (6), Rosinha Rosario (12), Britany Miller (17), Leonor Nunes (2), Cíntia França (6), Ana Cunha (2).
