CAB and Lombos faced each other in the final of the Portuguese Cup, having as a background image a CAB Pavilion truly dressed as a gala to witness the game between the two best Portuguese women's basketball teams. In a match without anticipated winners and where everything could happen, the players of João Pedro and the pupils of Zé Leite left in search of one of the most important trophies of the time. The game began best for the formation of Carcavelos, which surprised the Friends with the effectiveness of their outer shot. Lombos found in this solution the answer to the defense to the area assembled by the CAB. However, after the rise of the Lumbos, came the response of the CAB, especially at the hands of Ashley Bruner, extremely combative in the areas near the basket. Collectively, the Madeirans also hit the markings better, a factor that contributed significantly to the end of the first half to win by the minimum advantage of 18-17. In the second half, CAB and Lombos lived another 10 minutes of bat-to-tack basketball. Whenever one of the teams built a slight advantage, the other responded, making the balance truly dominant. At the end of the period, the CAB built a slight ascendancy, the result essentially of the good defensive work they were doing and had forced the continentals to make some losses. All added up caused the teams to collect for the interval with the marker in 29-26, in favor of the CAB. At this stage of the meeting, the highlight, in the CAB, went to Ashley Bruner (10 points, 9 points), very well supported by Kristen Mann (9 points, 2 points). In Lombos, Lloyd (11 points, 6 points) and Costa (7 points, 2 points). At the start of the game, Lombos revealed enormous aggression and managed to eliminate the ascendant that had been evidenced by the CAB. Despite the good replica of the Friends, who were fulfilling the game plan, the Carcavelos team showed enormous determination. The fourth fault of the American CAB, Ashley Bruner, who was being a ‘headache’ for the continentals, further stimulated visitors. Even so, the CAB demonstrated great resistance and managed to reach the end of the third time ahead for 40-38. In the fourth period, the alternation in the marker was constant. The pavilion vibrated, played after play, with Lombos and CAB showing why they are the two best teams in Portugal. However, in the middle of the last period, the CAB clearly took over the reins of the game, the result of a very clever game, exploring well the attack options, and a fierce defense, forcing Lombos to several unsquared releases. When it was five minutes before it was over, the friends were leading 53.46. Until the end, the CAB knew how to suffer and maintained serenity, while Lombos ran against time. To demonstrate great maturity, the CAB was not intimidated by the advanced Carcavelos team. With the pavilion screaming for the house team, in a moment of true apotheosis, the final horn rang and the CAB entered history, winning its seventh Cup of Portugal for the result of 61-56. In individual terms: Kristen Mann (13), Joana Lopes (13), Marta Bravo (4), Ashley Bruner (20), Carla Freitas (7), Carolina Scorcio (4).
