The Board of Club Amigos do Basketball communicates, with sadness, the death of Paulo Tavares, partner, former player and former coach of the club, which leaves behind a memory of commitment to the values, mission and goals of the club, which served with dedication and to which he gave much. Among the various roles he took in the club's organics, Paulo Tavares was the coach of the men's team who was national champion of the I Division at the time 1996/1997 (see photo), thus gaining access to the Professional League, where he has been since. In addition, Tavares (as he was known among the Friends), was a coach of the women's team at I Division, as well as a club player in the national competitions. After leaving Madeira, Paulo Tavares represented the club in lots, federative meetings and other events held on the Continent, in all of them showing a very characteristic of his, namely the fact that he always had the Club Friends of the Basketball in the heart. Paulo Tavares was also the father of Frederico Tavares, a former CAB player, who represented the club in the youth classes and also in the Professional League, always demonstrating the delivery and determination that also characterized the father. The club's Board expresses its support and the most heartfelt solidarity, as well as sincere respect for all the work done in this institution by Paulo Tavares, thanks also to which the Friends of the Basketball are what they are today. So long, dear friend...
