On Thursday, April 25th, FAMILY CAB will host a street basketball tournament. The event takes place in Praça do Mar, right in the centre of Funchal, and will allow teams of three elements to measure forces, having as background the beautiful Madeirense coast. The initiative is open to all stakeholders, federated and non-federated, whether they are CAB-Madeira players or not. The games begin at 10 a.m. and should last well after lunch. According to the information released by the Club, the tournament will include the age classes of sub-8, sub-10, sub-12, sub-14, sub-16, seniors and veterans. Teams of athletes with special needs will also participate, particularly in wheelchairs. The ranks are all mixed, and to compete, all teams must have at least one female athlete. To date, the organization of the event has already received registrations from more than forty teams, so a very lively day, full of basketball and hundreds of actors is expected. In addition to sport, the ‘CAB Streetball’ will function as a family meeting, as it is, in fact, the host of CAB events. Around the games, the various teams of the Club will be managing small stalls of ‘eats and babies’ and official clothing, which aim to raise funds for the institution. Adding to this, there will be a lot of music, cheering up the day of the many who will join this basketball party. For Francisco Gomes, president of the Club, “Many of the history of basketball has been written in the streets of the American suburbs. For the basketball player, the street is a natural environment and conducive to the practice of this modality, so it makes perfect sense to take basketball to the streets of our beautiful city and share it with all lovers and curious of the modality.” For the leader of the CAB, “CAB Streetball” is also a party that brings together the families of all our athletes, providing interaction and interaction between different generations. The emphasis on families is, moreover, a brand of our Club and we do not conceptualize any of our activities that are not based on the integration of families in the Social Mission and in the daily lives of our institution.”
