The CAB created a new space called ‘Family Book Exchange CAB’. The space is located in the entrance zone of the pavilion, next to the social corner where the puffs are. The ‘Troca de Livros da Família CAB’ consists of the free and disinterested provision of used children and youth books that will later be available for exchange for other books, not involving, this initiative, any kind of costs, deadlines or loans. The idea is that readers – CAB athletes or other children who want to go to space – bring their book(s) to exchange for another book(s). Due to its kind of Training Club and its location, the CAB appears to be a privileged place, as it is frequented by athletes of various ages and is situated in a social neighborhood of the city of Funchal with a large number of families with children and located next to a school. The ‘Family Book Exchange CAB’ thus appears as a flashy and appealing space for children and young people, who will see reading as something positive and associated with healthy practices, such as basketball. It is important to highlight that participation in the exchange of books is open to all those who are available to exchange books from their private collections for others who have not yet read, with no minimum or maximum limit of books to be exchanged. In statements to the CAB Site, Francisco Gomes, said, “As everyone knows, the habit of reading opens countless doors to development, brings intellectual benefits, improves learning and improves interpretative capacity, in addition to providing the reader with a broad knowledge of various subjects.” “In this context, the CAB, as an institution that has a social, inclusive and educational characteristic, in addition to its sports aspect, created the ‘Book Exchange’, in order to minimize difficulties in access to books and stimulate reading habits in children and young people.” In conclusion, the club president praised the Pais Club, which was the mentor of this initiative. “The merit of this initiative is all our Country Club, which once again has put ‘hands to work’ and helped our club to be close to the causes that matter.”
