Defensive effort gives our friends a sweaty victory

The women's CAB team measured forces with the Torres Novas team. Regardless of the prognoses, the game would require of the Friends a maximum delivery, not only for the respect that every opponent deserves, but also for the quality of the visiting team, which is conducting an interesting campaign in this year's edition of the Women's League, especially the performances that have been registered by its foreign players. The game began better for the Torres Novas team, not only on the merits of the visitors players, but also the result of some initial disorientation of the local players. Little by little, the CAB reacted and managed to balance events, and therefore, and fairly, the result at the end of the first ten minutes of play was a draw (15-15). In the second period, the CAB came in better than it had been in the first half, putting a lot of defensive pressure on the opposing team and getting it not to develop its attack wire. However, in the attack, the CAB players were unable to convert the opportunities created. Also in the highlights, the CAB team was not as assertive as in previous matches, which allowed visitors second release opportunities. CAB mismatches were effectively exploited by the opposing team, which was more effective than friends. With a good performance in the last three minutes of the second half, Torres Novas managed to move ahead of the scorer, reaching the range to win by 31-33. In the third half, the CAB went back in less well. In fact, the Friends probably went through their less accomplished phase, and, with five minutes played, they lost by 36-43. From then on, the Amigas ‘gave up their sleeves’, went to the fight, and, from an exchange in their defensive scheme, they achieved the much desired scoring points, reaching the end of the half-hour game to win by 49-48. In the fourth period, the CAB entered well and wanted to take control of the game. The task was not easy, because on the other side there was a strong team, but the Friends engaged and, with four minutes played, they were ahead for 56-50. But on the other side, Torres Novas continued to fight and placed the scorer in 64-61, when less than two minutes to play. Until the end, it was an intense struggle between the two formations. Torres Novas proved it because it's a team that has to be considered, but the CAB has been better at managing defensive moves. With merit, the Friends won by 68-64, giving their supporters a well-deserved happiness.
