Solange Neves is one of the new faces of ‘Baby CAB’. The former CAB player, now returning to the region after the completion of the Nutritionism course, is taking her first steps in the training area and began exactly where to start: from the base, i.e. the youngest of the youngest. The CAB's Official Site reached Solange and tried to find out how the new experience is going and what the plans for the future are. Here we leave our conversation: How is the experience of guiding Baby CAB sessions? The experience of guiding Baby's sessions is being very good, very rewarding, I'm enjoying it very much. What makes Baby's rank so special? Working with children of these ages is fantastic. The enthusiasm with which they receive us before each training, the affection they give us, the commitment they show in the activities we offer them, the ability they have to easily make new friends and have fun playing basketball, are all things that make me very happy and that make this step of Baby so special. What are the ideas that, as a monitor, you try to convey to your athletes? The main ideas I try to convey, in addition to the very basic notions of basketball, are mainly respect for colleagues, sharing, friendship, the fact that they should never give up just because they failed once, persistence, among others. Until recently you were a player. Now you're starting a coaching course. Is it easier to play the basketball game or guide it from the bank? Given that my role as a coach is very recent, it is somewhat difficult to answer this question. The idea I have, and I've always had so far, is that it's easier to play the basketball game than to guide it. Do you miss playing? What do you miss most? Well, that's that question that every time they ask me, I get the tear in the corner of my eye. Do I miss playing? I'm sorry, lots! I played basketball for 13 years. Although I always kept in mind my priorities, which are family and studies, I always lived for basketball, and when I dropped out due to an injury, it was a very difficult time for me. I miss the training, the games, the conviviality, the team environment, the companionship, the fight for a goal, the claw I had as a player, the competition... Anyway, everything. I miss breathing basketball again. What are your goals as a coach? Of course, I intend to learn and evolve as a coach, because I am still very inexperienced in this field. My main goal at this time with Baby CAB is that they have fun, that they 'play' basketball, that they practice sport, because nowadays children are less and less engaged in physical activity, but above all that the passion for this modality grows with them. My future is still uncertain, too, because I am finishing my Nutrition course, but as far as I am concerned I will remain here. What message would you like to leave for FAMILY CAB? First of all, I want to thank you for the opportunity you gave me to be a member of the CAB family again, it is a pride and an honor to return to my 'second home', this time as coach. The Club Friends of the Basketball is undoubtedly a unique club, a club with a brilliant history, a club where success is always present. The only message I would like to leave is that we continue to do the excellent work that has been done so far and that we bet more and more on our Formation, because they are our future.
