The women's CAB team today played the second if game in equal number of days. While, the previous day, the Friends faced and won the formation of Ovarense, today, the CAB went to Vagos to face local training, a very competitive, organized and well-trained team that required maximum attention and commitment from Madeirans. The game did not begin in the best way for the CAB, which lost its first half by 24-10. The poor exhibition of João Freitas' team was explained by the greater dominance of Vagos in the fight for the highlights (14 points gained against only 6 of the CBA), as well as by the low percentages of implementation that the CAB revealed in the first period (less than 30% effectiveness). Adding to this, Vagos was better at ball sharing than the CAB (8 assists made against ‘only’ 6 of the CAB). In the second cover, the CAB entered more aggressive and determined to reverse the course of events. Friends showed higher concentration and also greater defensive aggressiveness. As such, with 4 minutes played, they had already reduced the loss to 29-28 and gave clear signs of being mastering Vagos. Two minutes later, the game was already tied (33-33), the result of a very strong collective display by the Madeirans. Until the interval, the balance was the dominant note of the meeting, but the CAB also wasted a considerable number of opportunities (read ‘launches to the basket’) that would have allowed it not only to move forward from the marker, but also to build some punctual advantage over the Vagos. On the other hand, Vagos remained very combative and, taking advantage of the ineffectiveness that was being revealed by the CAB, managed to reach the interval with the game tied (40-40). Looking at the statistics, it was perceived that the recovery of the CAB in the second half resulted from an improvement in its percentage of release (40% effectiveness, the interval), as well as a greater balance in the fight for detachments (18 gains by Vagos and 13 gains by the CAB). The friends also had more free throw points (6, against only 1 of the Vagos) and more triples converted (6, against only 2 of the Vagos). The third period was a phase of great defensive concerns for both teams and proof of this was the fact that, in the middle of the partial, each team had only scored three points (43-43). From there, the teams risked more and therefore the score increased. The CAB has shown better collective understanding and also slightly higher effectiveness than the house. So it came to the end of the partial in front by 47-52. In the first three minutes of the fourth period, great defensive concerns were noticed in both teams, which led to the absence of points on both sides. The ‘guide’ was broken with a triple of Catherine Matthew, who placed the marker in 47-55. Two more free throws followed and one more triple for the Friends, who put the result in 47-60, when it arrived in the middle of the period. By the end of the meeting, Vagos did not give up a millimeter in pursuit of the goal, either to eliminate the disadvantage and win the game. Therefore, the Amigas had to work hard, not only in the defensive pressure they were carrying out, but also in the good management of the ball, because any mishap could relaunch the locations in the match. This became even more obvious four minutes from the end, when Vagos reduced the marker to 52-60, forcing the CAB to ask for a time discount. The words of the technicians did well to the Friends, who then performed two triples, who sent the scorer to 54-66, when there were only two minutes to play. Even so, Vagos again created danger and difficulties, forcing the CAB to take full advantage of the victory, which came with the result of 62-70. For friends, conquest is important and moralizing, especially by the way it was achieved, which reveals the great physical and psychological resistance of Madeirans, as well as their ability to believe. Vagos was a worthy loser, who deserves all recognition and respect.
