The men's team of the CAB went to the Pavilion of Light to face Benfica in the final game of the regular phase of the Portuguese League. Despite the great theoretical and budgetary differences between the two formations, Madeirans entered the game very well, demonstrating an aggressive, courageous and very strong attitude from a collective point of view. In fact, on certain occasions, the CAB led the score, and at the end of the first ten minutes, the great balance in the marker (18-16, in favor of continentals) demonstrated the good performance of Friends. In the second half, the balance was again the dominant note, and in the middle of the partial, the teams also divided the score (7-7). The CAB’s ability to bounce and good defence were causing difficulties for Benfica, which, on the other hand, benefited from the fact that the CAB was not being able to deliver the good basket occasions it was creating. In the minutes that followed, the CAB managed to move ahead of the result (27-28), however, a number of faults committed by the Madeirans put the men of the Light in the free throw line, from where they again took advantage (31-28), with three minutes to play in the partial. Until the break, Benfica and CAB shared the marking of baskets, but the ones in the house managed to collect from the locker rooms in front by 35-32, after having won the period by a very short margin (18-16). On the return to the game, the CAB again forced Benfica to play at its highest level, such determination with which the Madeirans were at the meeting. Those in the house again won the partial, but by the minimum margin (17-16), allowing them to collect from the locker rooms in front, although for only three points (35-32). In the third half, the CAB was clearly superior and won the partial by 17-21, reaching the end of the half-hour game to lead by 52-53. The Friends demonstrated a great collective sense, which resulted in a correct analysis of the player in better position to throw to the basket. In addition, the defense assembled by the Madeirans managed to cover the way to the basket at their guard, preventing the Banfica from successfully completing his attacks. In the fourth period, the provision of the CAB was less achieved, with the team demonstrating greater hesitation in the time to throw to the basket. There was also the merit of Benfica, who asserted the individual arguments of his squad. Despite having been ahead for a considerable part of the last partial, accumulating a six-point advantage, the CAB fell by 75-66, a result that does not erase the great effort and value of our team. Unhappy Female Team with Good Travel In Funchal, the women's team spoke the clearance for the 'Final Four' of the Portuguese Cup by losing with the Good Trip for 53-66. The game even began best for the home team, which won the first period by 17-12 and reached the break ahead of the result by 25-23. However, in the second part, the Amigas showed some defensive weaknesses that were well exploited by the Azoreans. In addition, the CAB recorded particularly low rates of use in launches (16% of three points and 31% of two points), which together determined the defeat of Madeirans.
