CAB and Maria Alberta Meneres School (GDEMAM) met in Funchal in a match for the fourth day of the Women's League. Despite their last place in the qualifying table, GDEMAM came to Funchal with the will to surprise the local team and earn precious points in the ranking. On the CAB side, the will was, as always, to win the match in order to continue to rise in the ranking. The start of the game was slow for both teams. In fact, at the end of the first period, the result was ‘only’ 14-6, in favour of the CAB, which denoted a weak offensive provision on both sides. What can best be highlighted from the first ten minutes is the defensive attitude of the home team, which was good and aggressive. In the second period, the CAB was more active and energetic. Despite the fault problems of the player Maria João, who accumulated her third foul in the middle of the second half, the CAB knew how to unite and better explore the speed of her attack. With a defense that continued to make life difficult for visitors, the house players again won the second ten minutes and reached the break to win by 34-21. On the return of the locker rooms, the main question was whether the CAB would finally shoot the marker and impose its greatest competitive experience and athletic capacity, or whether, on the contrary, it would be ‘tied’ to a taco-to-tack game with the continental team. The third and fourth periods revealed a looser CAB team, with more rhythm, and above all, with much more joy to play. The chemistry that the Madeiran team revealed was very positive, contagious and expressed itself in very good technical and tactical details. For example, the entire field pressure that Coach João Pedro put together was well implemented, generating rapid counterattacks that the Friends have achieved. In the fight for the caveats, the CAB was also superior, conquering precious caveats that kept the visitors score in lower numbers. Moreover, in the organized transitions, the CAB was also more consistent and was able to explore the interior presence of Justina Udenze and the speed of Maria João. At a global level, all the players contributed to the victory, with the pavilion vibrating with the joy the team expressed in their way of playing. The final result was 81-36, favorable to the BAC. In individual terms: Cintia France (6), Ana Jardim, Monica Luis (2), Marta Bravo (9), Maria João (17), Diana Melim (2), Catarina Freitas (8), Justina Udenze (24), Carolina Escortium (5) and Carla Relva (8). MASSULINS DEROTED IN LIGHT The CAB visited Benfica in another match of the eighth Men's League. The CAB came from a series of four consecutive wins, but very aware of the financial value of the Benfica team, which provides the Light team with the possibility to present themselves in this competition with arguments that are inaccessible to any other team. In addition to these factors, it is noteworthy that Madeirans presented themselves in the game conditioned by several injuries in influential players (cases by Jorge Coelho, Jorge Freitas and Frederico Tavares). Although the Madeiran formation had actually gained the fourth period of the meeting, the less successful provision of the three previous periods made the visit to the Light not possible. On the contrary, the CAB lost the game by 90-58. Next weekend, the CAB gets Algés, who is their last game before Christmas. The men of João Freitas want to return to victories and there is a great basketball show in the CAB Pavilion
