The training of the CAB/HF received, in the CAB Pavilion, the Sports team of Póvoa, a demanding game for the Madeirans, but also a special game for Coach Pedro Dias, who faced the team that trained last year. The doubt that hovered in the air was whether the youth and irreverence of the young Friends could lead to the defeat of the experience and greater competitive rhythm of the continentals. The game began best for the players of the house. Thanks to an aggressive defense, the Madeirans managed to force the opponent to make several mistakes, including unlaunched ball losses and out-of-time and out-of-paced throws. Already in the attack, the CAB/HF was judicious in the selection of launches and was able to make a good selection of opportunities to attack the basket. The house team also showed great energy, exploring well counterattack exits, well led by Carlos Bettencourt. Although the first two periods of the meeting were not always played at the best level, as the teams had less attractive moments of deconcentration and basketball, the home team was superior and showed greater determination. Therefore, without surprise, the CAB/HF reached the interval to win the Sports for the result of 33-30, benefiting from a great collective spirit and delivery of all its athletes. On the return of the locker rooms, the house team entered very strong and performed very well, not only in defense, but also in attack. In the third half, the CAB/HF passed a 22-13 partial, reaching the door of the fourth period to win by 55-43, a result that led to believe in a victory of the men guided by Pedro Dias and Humberto Ramos. However, in the fourth and last time, the Madeiran formation accumulated errors that allowed visitors to ascend in the match and approach the marker. Gradually, the advantage of the house shortened, to the despair of the plaza and the bank of Friends, who were seeing the punctual advantage of twelve points to be shortened to worrying numbers and that motivated the opponent to want to turn the game around. Even so, in the decisive moments, the formation of the house managed to gather the necessary serenity, and, betting on the defense and a well organized attack, managed to control the opponent and restore the punctual advantage to more comfortable values, winning the match by 74-61. In essence, the home team has shown that it is maturing from game to game and that it is in a very interesting ascending curve. A final note of appreciation for all CAB/HF players and their respective technical team that, from game to game, have demonstrated the value of this project. Players are evolving 'to the eye' and giving evidence that should be considered for more demanding challenges. When it is, the clubs involved in the partnership only have to win.
