The training of the CAB/HF received the CAD team Coimbra in what was the last match of our boys this time. The Madeirans approached the game with motivation, even if they were, already at the start, lit by the absence of Witjes, the Dutch pole that did not play due to knee problems. This situation limited the presence of the house in areas near the basket, also reducing its capacity in the physical confrontation. In the early moments of the match, the two teams played in a balanced way. The visitors tried to explore more the inner game, where they had superiority, just like the quick exits in counterattack, while the CAB/HF focused more on the organized attack. After the initial balance, CAD Coimbra began to build an advantage, resulting essentially from its greater ability to fight for the caveats and also from some defensive permissiveness in the CAB/HF athletes. Little by little, the advantage of the continentals was widening, with the interval to arrive with the marker in 22-35, favorable to the Conimbricenses. At the rematch of the game, the CAB/HF athletes demonstrated a huge desire to turn the game around and win the match. Contagioned by Diogo Melim's "luxury" performance, which made his presence felt in vibrant tones, both in defensive tasks and offensive performance, the Madeirans eliminated the advantage of the continentals and passed ahead of the marker. In the CAB Pavilion, it was believed in victory... However, Diogo Melim's departure from the home team was a significant shock. From then on, our boys made some mistakes again that are not recommended at this level of competition, which were taken advantage of by the continentals to resume the front of the meeting. With merit and also with luck, CAD Coimbra controlled the game until the end and won by 55-62. Despite the result, the club has every reason to feel great pride in its athletes and in the technical duo composed by Pedro Dias and Humberto Ramos. Today, again, the group has demonstrated the importance of this project, which must be continued by the clubs involved, because it is an important and worthy project. We welcome all the athletes and coaches for the season and we look forward, with confidence, to the next sporting season, which, we are sure, will be even better.
