Satellite team lets victory escape in the last seconds

The CAB/HF team faced, in the CAB Pavilion, the Galitos de Aveiro in another match to count for the National Championship of the 1st Men's Division. The game was the second of the young Friends in less than 24 hours, because the day before, the ones commanded by Pedro Dias and Humberto Ramos had faced and defeated the Póvoa Sports team in a game filled with emotion and competitiveness. The question remained whether the Madeirans would accuse the wear of the parida the day before, or, on the contrary, they would be able to turn to tiredness and present a good replica of themselves, able to surprise the opponent. The CAB/HF entered the game very well and assumed, from early on, the domain of the events of the match. In defense, the men of the house were cohesive, and in the attack, the group demonstrated consistency and patience in the selection of throws to the basket. Although in spaces, the CAB/HF showed some disorientation, most of the time the team was well led and well organized. So it was no surprise that the break arrived with the Madeirans in front for 25-23. On the return of the locker rooms, the CAB/HF went wrong and made mistakes that are not expected at this level of competition. Unfortunately, the young Friends experienced some flaws in the defense, which were exploited with merit by the opponent. In the attack, the athletes of the house revealed difficulty in adapting to the zone defense, however assembled by Galitos. The fourth period confirmed the downward curve of the Madeirans, which was aggravated with nervousness at the essential heights, including in the pass chapter, allowing visitors to several rapid attacks, of which precious points resulted. In the last moments of the match, Galitos took advantage of a point, with some time to play. But in two consecutive attacks, the men of the house were unable to score any point, allowing the opponent to win 67-68. Despite the defeat, we are confident that our boys will know how to react and learn from today's game. After all, it is also with difficult defeats that winners are formed.
