The women's CAB team began the double journey in the Azores in the best way, winning the local Sportiva for the result of 61-72. The evolution of the marker was as follows: 21-21 (1p), 35-43 (range), 48-57 (3p) and 61-72 (final). The meeting was a tough test for those commanded by João Pedro Vieira, not only because they played on the day they traveled, having to face a valuable team after many hundreds of kilometers of airplane, but also because the CAB cannot count on Julie Forster, one of the two American athletes, who was left out due to a wrist injury, reducing the defensive flexibility and the power of the Madeirans to jump. Even so, the great collective work of the CAB allowed to meet the lack of Forster and ensure victory. There is, however, no time for celebrations, for tomorrow, the Madeirans return to the field, this time to face the formation of the Good Journey. In statements to the Official CAB Site, João Pedro Vieira made the following comment to the game: “The victory is the result of an excellent defensive work and the tactical rigor that the players put into practice, fulfilling what we trained during the week. I stress how quickly Lavinia is integrating into our system and also how excellent the other players are welcoming it. Finally, I congratulate the entire working group and dedicate the conquest to Julie, who is recovering from an injury.” Different luck was the Satellite Team, which lost at home against SIMECQ for 50-59. The result was essentially the result of some defensive errors made by Madeirans, which allowed visitors to gain and maintain an advantage in the marker. Despite the result, Luisa Montes players continue to leave positive indications for the future, which is worthy of registration.
