In an unprecedented initiative in regional clubs, the CAB opens this week the ‘CAB Solidarity Space’. The new space will operate in the CAB Pavilion, in a shared area with the CAB’s Parents Cube, and it aims to be a place to support people and families in need, notably in the free supply of clothing, footwear, children’s accessories, toys and other goods necessary for family functioning. According to the information advanced by Friends, people in need of support may contact the club personally, by telephone (291 764 448) or by email (general@cab-deira.com or clubpaiscab@gmail.com), indicating their needs. After that, the ‘Solidary CAB Space’ will collect the goods requested and provide them to the persons concerned for free. All this is done under anonymity so as not to compromise the identity of the one who is helped. According to Roberto Rodrigues, Secretary General of the CAB, “This new project meets the social responsibility that this club has and extends far beyond its sporting mission.” For the young leader of Friends, “The club is not alien to the difficulties of its athletes and all its surroundings, so it was idealized the creation of this ‘Solidary CAB Space’, where, in a union of efforts between the club and its Country Club, it will seek to help several families, collecting and assigning goods requested by those who need, always ensuring the anonymity of the people involved.” At a time when many families are experiencing difficulties, the ‘CAB solidarity space’ is yet another demonstration of the social concerns that have guided the action of the CAB in recent years. For the future, Roberto Rodrigues foresees great dynamism in the project and even admits “to extend its scope to more spaces for collecting and distributing donations, which serve to support free the needs of more people.”
