International event promises female basketball show

It is already between September 17 and 20 that Madeira will receive sixty European basketball athletes who come to the Region in the context of the opening tournament of another season, event of the CAB and called the CAB Cup. We are talking about two teams of the leading Spanish Women's League (CREF Hola and Gran Canaria), one of the Second Spanish League (Ciudad de los Adelantados) and another British squad that is a selection of the best players in the main English League (Midnight Madness). A rain of stars that will compete for three days in the CAB Pavilion. In the CAB Cup is, of course, included the senior female team of the house, guided by João Pedro Vieira. The best performance is expected of Basketball Friends but this is essentially the great opportunity to share the field with the best player in Europe. “Meeting in a pre-season tournament teams that come from leagues that are references in Europe is a sign of the sport prestige that the CAB has been gaining, including in the international panorama,” said Francisco Gomes, chairman of the Board. “We are aware of the responsibilities that this recognition entails and are working to ensure that the CAB Cup meets the high expectations of our visitors.” On the sports level, Francisco Gomes highlighted the importance of the event for the preparation of the women's team, defining the CAB Cup as fundamental to ensure the competitiveness of friends. “Our women’s team addresses the new era aware of the responsibilities that fall on it and the goals that are naturally imposed on it. To succeed they need to have competitive rhythm and this tournament is an important step in this direction,” explained the leader of Friends of Basketball. The calendar of the games will be made available soon, and the entries in the CAB Pavilion in Nazaré will be free to promote this modality each time among the Madeiran public.
