It was in an atmosphere of great party with five hundred people present that the CAB-Madeira introduced the teams that will take part in the 2012-2013 season. Faithful to its ideal of family club, the CAB event brought together about two hundred athletes and an identical number of education and guests, who together filled the CAB Pavilion, giving it great human warmth. The presentation of the teams began with a demonstration of ball management by the Minibasket athletes, who revealed that age and size have nothing to do with the ability to make fantastic skills with a basketball. A number of dance numbers followed by the group ‘Sweet Dancers’, which has already collaborated in events of the CAB-Madeira, graced the pavilion of Friends with their choreography and beauty. The party continued with the parade of all the Formation teams, from the little and small ‘Baby CAB’ to the Sub-24, passing the Mini-8, Mini-10, Mini-12, Sub-14 and Sub-16. Each team was accompanied by their ‘father’ or ‘mother’, which are references that the members of each team have as reference and have the function of helping coordinate the daily activities of each group. At the conclusion of the presentation of the plants, the professional male and female teams entered the field to the sound of palms and a ‘human tunnel’ created by the athletes of the Minibasket of the CAB. The euphoria and the party were total as the CAB stars, one by one and one by one, entered the scene, from ball to fist, and greeting the hundreds gifts of the pavilion. The senior teams were accompanied by reporters Paulo Almada, ‘father’ of the Women’s Team, and Bruna Melim, ‘mother’ of the Men’s Team. After the entry of the teams and the official photos of each group, it was time for the interventions. First said João Santos, Regional Director of Youth and Sport, who stressed the importance of Sport as a method of preparing children and young people for life. The Regional Director with the responsibility to manage the sport also referred to the role of the CAB as a club with a brilliant palmaret in Portuguese basketball and with evidence given in the formation of athletes for sports and for life, a fact recognized in the ‘Statute of Club Trainer’, a certificate of excellence that was awarded and passed to the club by the Portuguese Basketball Federation. At the conclusion of the Official Opening, Francisco Gomes, President of the Club Board, who said that the instability that exists today in the issue of sports support would not demolish the club from continuing to see people as top priority. “I express and insist that my priority will be the people who work in this house and the commitments we make with them. Not another!”, said President Francisco Gomes, noting, “I make this choice by conscience because I believe that going to play on the continent is no more important than my collaborators having food on the table, than my players paying for the university and than my players paying for the children’s school.” The leader of FAMILY CAB concluded his intervention by recalling the work of all the employees of the club and the parents and fathers of the athletes, who are “the true and only reason why the club is surviving so many setbacks.” Francisco Gomes also made a strong appeal to the union of the club. “I ask you to put aside the things that separate us. It is too much at risk to worry about what the other said or what that think, now, last week or twenty years ago ", said the maximum responsible of the club. In the end, the young leader left a promise of work, saying, “For my part, and in the time I have left here, the promise is of work and resistance to the limit of my abilities.”
