Manuel Fernandes was elected president of the Portuguese Basketball Federation, succeeding Mário Saldanha, almost 25 years ago. The FPB released the voting numbers, in which List A, led by Manuel Fernandes, obtained 38 votes from the 60 delegates who exercised their right, and only one did not vote. Manuel Fernandes, who was running for office with Eduardo Monteiro, had been acting as National Technical Director for almost thirty years, and submitted his resignation from that position a month ago, since he considered his position incompatible with the election application. For the CAB, the election of Manuel Fernandes had a very special meaning, since the list led by him included Sidónio Fernandes, the club's founding partner and historic president over twenty to three years. More recently, Sidonio Fernandes was President of the General Assembly, playing a key role in the organizational dynamics of Friends of the Basketball. As it is the first time that a CAB partner (and that a Madeiran) occupies such a prominent position in FPB’s management, the Official CAB Site expresses its immense joy for the success and wishes the winning list the greatest success in fulfilling its mandate.
