They got up at 5:00 in the morning. They took two hours by bus to Tabua in Coimbra. They played at a clear disadvantage at the level of physical freshness. They beat Vagos. They reserved, with all merit, their place in the final of the Cup of Portugal. This CAB is huge!!!... Playing the half-final of the Portuguese Cup, the Women's Team won the Vagos by 66-74. As Marta Bravo had said in the preview of the meeting, the Madeirenses approached the match with great respect for the opponents and concentrated on cancelling the strengths of the continental team, a difficult task because Vagos is a young and very strong team, which in the inner game, both in the outer game. To do so, the Friends have bet on two different factors: a pressing defense and a very organized attack based on teamwork. As a result of a first - time delivery and a great deal of discernment, both in defense and attack, the Friends reached the end of the first period to be won by 16 - 18. Despite the advantage, the game was worrying because the athletes Maria João and Jheri Booker, fundamental pieces in the Madeirenses, had made, each, two fouls in just 10 minutes. It was therefore necessary to rethink the enthusiasm in defensive tasks and make sure that the CAB game would not be compromised. In the second period, the play intensity of the Friends did not decrease. Gradually, the visiting team managed to deepen their match dominance and reached the break to win by 30 - 35. In the second part, Vagos' team tried to counter the CAB's accession by adopting a defense to the area. However, the CAB responded with its outside game and with four triples converted. These precious points defined a pull on the Friends marker and an advantage that came to be 20 points. It should be noted that all CAB players, even those with fewer minutes of play, managed to make a very positive and essential contribution so that the formation of Madeira could overcome the opponent. Undoubtedly, the result achieved was the result of the work of a team that has come to fight so many obstacles throughout the entire season. Merit and prominence also deserves his coach, Paulo Freitas, who has been tireless in the serious and dedicated way he has led his work group, helping him to fight so many adversities and to take from each of the athletes the best that is in them. We are faced with a fantastic team that, for all that you have achieved and in the circumstances you have achieved, deserves all our respect and all our affection. In individual terms: Jheri Booker (24 points), Carmen Reynolds (17 points), Faty Freitas (11 points), Maria João (6 points), Silvia Lopes (2 points), Carolina Escorcio (5 points), Marta Bravo (3 points) and Catarina Freitas (6 points).
