This weekend, the women's CAB team will be playing the Victor Hugo Cup. The competition, which takes place in a different competitive fashion than that which has been usual in recent years, will test the sports capacity of the participating teams, but also their ability to adapt to the patterns defined by the Federation for this competition. In the specific case of the CAB, the Victor Hugo Cup is also a financial effort, as the club will have to support the team's stay, the terrestrial transport and even some of the meals that Madeirans will have to eat. The group led by João Freitas is aware of these sacrifices and want to justify them with good results in the test. Even so, they are aware of the particularities of the test, which constitutes a first test for the team. Proof format requires adaptation In statements to the Official CAB Site, the Friends Coach makes some observations on the format of the event, noting: “The patterns in which this competition is organised leave me many doubts about what to expect from our team. We will be completely disarmed in relation to what each of the other formations are worth and the fact that we reduce the game time will not help either, because in the event of major recoveries or changes in strategies, everything has to be done quickly and at a time when the team is not yet prepared for this.” Team has shown commitment Although the competitive molds are special, João Freitas still highlights the work that has been done by the CAB team over the past month. “In a month you cannot prepare everything that has to be done to compete already trophies we want to win. The team has worked in a committed way, but, new coach, new ideas and new athletes imply processes that only time allows perfecting.” Face the test without pressure As for the goals of the Friends for the test, João Freitas does not commit to the achievement of the title, but leaves a message of hope, observing: “Personally, I don’t like to prepare games without great organization. We are in a phase of consolidating group cohesions, but it is still not possible to have great cohesions in the tasks and that is what makes us win trophies. We're sure the will to win is that you'll have to make a difference. We still have much to improve and correct, but what better way to improve and correct than by winning?”
