From 5 to 9 July, the CAB will hold the XX CAB Tournament, and as such receive hundreds of athletes, coaches and visitors from all over the country. For a few days, the Pavilion will be the ‘capital’ of the Training Basketball, a responsibility that the club assumes very seriously and with great determination to meet expectations. Once again, the Technical Coordinator of the Tournament will be Coach João Paulo Silva, who, as in previous years, is the reference figure of the Organization of the event. Therefore, the CAB Official Site could not pass up the opportunity to reach the talk with the coach and ask him some questions about the Tournament. This is where the conversation was recorded: How's the tournament organization going? Within the expected normality, since those involved in this activity already have a huge experience in organizing this event. There is great concern in the distribution of functions among the various elements of the organization. In parallel with the development of the organizational stages, we are holding meetings to prepare and assess what is happening. Through permanent contact between those responsible for each area, we have managed to plan this tournament so that the information will circulate at the moment and in the quality we want. It is my total conviction that it will once again be a huge competitive tournament that will allow a healthy social relationship between all participants. What expectations fall on the event? Among the many goals desired with this tournament is the need to test, evaluate the development of our work at the training level. To ensure a competitive time of quality for our training levels, thus allowing the requirement for decision-making in the face of diverse competitive situations. We would like to see these commitments made in this tournament. Of course, we wish to associate with these objectives, the pleasure of participation, visible in the confrontation of the relationship between players, coaches, managers and companions in general. We are aware that we have reached a significantly high level in relation to the conditions guaranteed in this event. In this sense, we put our expectations at the level of what they will demand: quality in the way that all components of the tournament will be connected, enabling a realization that can meet a general satisfaction. What is the most challenging aspect of the entire Organization? Respond to the demands of each team participating in the tournament, thus creating a huge desire to visit us again. In order for this to happen, the biggest challenge will be to control the competitive side so that it is valued, without questioning the social part. We want the central theme to be competition because it is in this area that our most disadvantaged teams present compared to those who visit us. As happens in all tournaments, we would like to see again a salutary competition with the natural ambition for winning the title, never judging that defeat will be a hindrance in the formative development of athletes. In a vision more focused on organizational aspects, we have the great challenge of coordinating between the various components of the tournament: transport, food, accommodation, competitive framework, arbitration, etc. What message would you like to leave to the teams coming to Madeira? That in their participation they can collaborate, associating with the ambition of good sport participation, a pleasant fellowship with the other participants. Help create a harmonious coexistence between sports and social. If this happens, everything will be facilitated and the expectations you bring with you will certainly be answered at the end of the event. Only with your cooperation can we keep this initiative alive, which, although it is very pleasant for the least young participants, is surely an unforgettable moment in the lives of those who compete for quality training. The CAB is fully available to continue to fulfil its part in this process. Welcome!
