This weekend, the CAB men's team is facing a difficult test against the Ovarense team. In a game played outside the door, those led by João Paulo Silva want to continue the good basketball they have been practicing. Although the working group remains limited by injuries, which currently affect Fred Gentry, Bruno Cavalcante and Diogo Gameiro, Friends rely on their abilities and know that the key to success is a strong and cohesive team spirit. The CAB's Official Website reached the meeting with the team's trainer and conducted a brief interview. Here we leave the result of this conversation: The team comes from a moralizing victory against the Victory, but follows the dangerous team of the Ovarense. How's the CAB preparing the game? We are focused fundamentally on how we have to manage every possession of the ball. This has been one of the most important aspects in our achievements. Of course, we will pay close attention to the specific adaptations for this Ovarense team. Know the general characteristics of the team and the individual capabilities so that you can condition the actions and take command in the offensive and defensive management of the game. The victory against Guimarães helped the team to believe more and more in building a collective climate. There is a shared responsibility that accompanies the team from the first moment of work and we want it to remain in the preparation for each game. What is the secret to winning that northern formation and what special care is the CAB having? We should not focus exclusively on the particularities of the Ovar team. The great reference of our achievements has been evident in the way we have managed each possession of the ball, in the search for diversified solutions in the finalization and strict compliance with the rules set out in the defensive chapter, regardless of the opponent. We have as our common goal to make things happen in the way that suits us. Adjustments will always be a consequence of the knowledge of each player's abilities and how they manage their defensive and offensive actions. How is the team handling the injuries that are conditioning players like Fred Gentry, Diogo Gameiro and Bruno Cavalcante? Of course, this is a situation we do not like at all. However, based on the climate of ‘collective comfort’ well evident so far, the team has been able to produce enough to follow the construction we desire. We are decisively dependent on collective income. There is strong cohesion around the idea that if one element is missing, the rest should contribute enough so that the final portion is not affected. At the same time, we see a huge will of injured athletes to regain their integration into the team. This is what you call a team spirit. What message do you send to players before the games? How do you try to motivate them to the game challenge? The first idea that should guide our preparation is related to the fact that we have made a collective commitment. We should not just be in the words but above all take on the desire to demonstrate this ambition at every moment. We follow a strict routine in the specific preparation of each game. However, nothing will work unless collective appreciation is evident. I repeat, tirelessly, before every game I want a united group on the responsibility of meeting commitments. This desire, common to all elements, drives the dedication of each player according to its characteristics. It is only possible to pass this message if each player feels that he has a role to play, which can be useful his contribution to the team's performance. Many teams share this idea but few can effectively demonstrate it. What CAB can we expect at the match in Ovar? Most of all we want to play for a lot of people. We want to be ambitious and win because we know concretely that every victory of our team means the happiness of many people who make their contribution to this. A CAB that wants to consolidate its competitive position in this League, a CAB that wants to be recognized as a reference club on the national scene. We want each victory to have a significantly extended reach, far beyond the simple two-point achievement.
