Confirmed his return to the club that saw him born and grow in basketball, João Paulo Silva (‘Juca’) immediately began his work at the service of Friends, investing his energies in the sector that is particularly important and symbolic for the CAB: Training. By giving body to the new guiding logic of the male senior team, which foresees a strong bet on the players trained in the club, Juca has been guiding, with the help of Carlos Sousa, assistant coach, observation trainings of a selected group of athletes with a view to their technical and tactical evaluation. The idea is to know which players are prepared to join the Senior Friends Plantiles, either the group that will compete in the Professional League, or the group that will compete in the CNB1 Championship, representing Funchal Timetables, CAB satellite team. After the first of two weeks of work, the CAB's Official Site reached the talk with Coach Juca and asked him to reflect on the evolution of training so far. Here we record your words: “After the first week of work, we can conclude that we have a difficult but especially encouraging and rewarding task ahead. Motivating because athletes have revealed an admirable ability to overcome, a tireless and faithful dedication to their perceptible ambition for evolution, by learning the foundations that determine how they will understand the game in the future. It is rewarding because it bears witness to my conviction in the process of training our young athletes. Not believing in the possibility of these young people, at some point, contributing to the appreciation of the club, is early inhibiting any and all viability of this process.” “As such, I am confident and determined to continue with a work programme that aims to assist and strengthen the general capabilities of our young athletes. Make them believe the values underlying their collective commitment: Dedication, Effort, Commitment, Overcoming, Cooperation. We will certainly make the next week’s work as or more productive as the previous one.” “For my part, through the influence that I am able to assume in this healthy return to the CAB, I will always raise and contribute so that the product of our training is increasingly recognized and able to take over, predominantly in the high competition. We do not know if we are going to get there, however, we are quite clear which way we should go. Very special greeting for all athletes who have been able to meet the requirements inherent to the requested work.”
