It is the return to the CAB of the one who, in the opinion of many, is the best Madeirense player of all time! Now, in new roles, Liliano Silva is the new assistant coach of the male senior team, joining the lead coach, João Paulo Silva, who is also his brother, in the technical leadership of the professional team of Friends of the Basketball. In addition to assistant coaching, Liliano Silva will also take over the technical command of the ‘B’ Men's Team, which will compete in the CNB-2 championship. As a player, Liliano Silva was a reference figure for a generation of regional basketball gold (in the photo, the first to count from the right) and also an unavoidable name in the history of the CAB. Over the years, it has contributed decisively to some of the greatest achievements of the Men's Team of the CAB, including the climbs to the First Division and, later, to the League, having even integrated the first CAB team that played the Portuguese Professional League, curiously under the technical guidance of João Paulo Silva, with whom he will now return to work. This will be the first experience of Liliano Silva in the technical orientation of a professional team. However, the professionalism and seriousness with which he has always addressed his basketball career are guarantees that he will make a strong contribution to the technical orientation of Friends. “It’s always good when one of CAB’s biggest male basketball references comes home, so today is a very happy day for us,” Francisco Gomes, president of the club, said to CAB’s Official Site. “We have been trying for some time to get back from Liliano. The same is happening now, at an important moment for us, and I am sure that your coming is not only an addition of quality to our technical team, given the competitiveness and delivery that Liliano puts in everything he does, but also a strengthening of the mystique of this club, because we are talking about a person who was one of the symbols of one of the best generations of Canadian basketball players. I wish you, as assistant coach, to have as much success as you had as a player”, concluded the leader of Friends.
