The FNAC-Madeira auditorium received the press conference that marked the official presentation of the XVI CAB Tournament. The club's president, Francisco Gomes, the Tournament Coordinators, João Pedro, Fátima Freitas and Faby Ortelá attended the event, as well as members of the event Staff and the Country Club. In the presentation of the Tournament, some of the numbers of the initiative organized by the club of Nazareth were mentioned. In the same way, more than 350 athletes will be involved, 280 of them from outside the region. They will be joined by more than 120 companions, including those in charge of education, as well as more than 30 staff members. All in all, during the tournament, more than 40 games and a street basketball tournament will be held, with more than 50 matches to play. In addition to sports activities, the tournament will include a 'clinic' with the participation of Zé Costa and Faty Freitas, bases of senior CAB teams. Also included in the Tournament calendar will be a 'Jam Sessions', which aims to celebrate the bonds of friendship among the tournament participants and offer the present good musical selections. The opening of the Tournament takes place next Tuesday, at 8 p.m., at the CAB Pavilao. The closing ceremony will be on Saturday, at the Naval Club premises in Quinta Calaça, which is one of the institutional partners of the club and which kindly gave the facilities to the Club of Friends of the Basketball. During the presentation of the tournament, Francisco Gomes said that the CAB feels "great pride" in the event and that it also symbolizes a "victory" of the club, because it happens in a year of great difficulty for the institution. "This Tournament is also the affirmation of what we are as a club, which is an institution facing the Formation. So organizing this tournament is celebrating what we are as a club." In addition, the president of the CAB also highlighted the role played by "the tens of volunteers included in the tournament staff". According to Francisco Gomes, "It is thanks to them that this event takes shape, and without its precious participation, it would be impossible to think and organize the XVI CAB Tournament."
