It was hard to ask more or imagine better. A pavilion full of people and life toasted the opening of the official time of the Basketball Friends. The afternoon began with the game between the women's team and the Good Travel. Madeirenses and Azoreans measured strength in the first game of the year, with the victory hanging to the side of the CAB by the result of 72-64. In the game that also marked Ashley Bruner's debut, the most recent foreign reinforcement of the Amigas, the visiting team began better, which won an eight-point lead on the scorer. However, the CAB was able to respond well, helped by Carla Freitas’ ‘hot hand’, which was very well supported by Julie Forster. At the end of the first period, the marker indicated 16-12 in favour of the CAB. In the second period, the CAB increased its defensive aggressiveness, causing the Good Trip several losses of ball without launch. The attacks meritorily conquered by the Amigas also resulted in the marking of points, not only long distance (with emphasis on the ‘bombs’ of Catarina Freitas and Carla Freitas), but also in the areas near the basket (with special reference to the American duo of the CAB). The good defenses and the superior offensive provision of the Amigas extended the marked, which, in the interval, evidenced 40-23, in favor of the athletes of the house. In the third half, the friends went back in badly, accusing tiredness and little rhythm. Despite winning the period for the result of 13-11, a low score compared to what the teams had produced before, superiority in the caveats allowed the CAB to keep visitors at a pleasant distance to those of the house, and at the end of the third period, the scorer scored 53-34 in favor of the friends. In the fourth half, highlight the premieres in the regular phase games of the League of athletes Rebeca Fernandes, Yasminne Chermiti and Leonor Nunes, athletes of the young layers of the CAB. The CAB was not particularly inspired (lost the period by 19-20), but played enough to toast the people who filled the pavilion with a victory, the first at a time that one would like it to be many. In individual terms: Cintia France (2), Yasminne Chermiti (4), Joana Lopes (6), Catarina Freitas (9), Julie Forster (26), Ashley Bruner (5), Leonor Nunes (3), Carolina Escorcio (6) and Carla Freitas (11). Presentation of teams was celebration of the CAB FAMILY The match between the CAB and the Boa Viagem was followed by the official presentation of the CAB teams that will compete in the various regional and national championships in the 2014-2015 season. From Baby to Seniors, Friends and Friends, as well as their coaches, they performed at FAMILY CAB. Presents, too, were the ‘fathers’ and ‘mothers’ of each team, which is like who says those in charge of education who are responsible for following the various teams during the year. The highlight of the night was for a coordinated performance by the Minis echelons, which demonstrated skills in ball management to the sound of ‘Time of My Life’, from ‘Black Eyed Peas’. The event was brightened by the ‘STG’, a group of ‘break dance’ and hip hop dance, as well as a rhythmic gymnastics group. All these acts brought colour and rhythm to the pavilion, which vibrated with each of the actors. The senior teams joined hand in hand with athletes from the Minis teams, in what was a very beautiful hire among the most ‘small’ of the formation of Friends and the ‘giants’ of the professional and semi-professional teams. At the entrance of the athletes followed the entrance of senior technical teams, who did so in style, mounted on top of ‘segways’, to surprise the present. On the opening note, President Francisco Gomes pointed out the beginning of a new phase in the club. In his words, “From today, the crisis no longer enters our conversations. Why? The answer is simple: Because the CAB is a winning club!” The leader of the Friends, who mentioned in a special way the return to the club of Coach João Paulo Silva, also launched a challenge to the club leaders, noting, “Because Life is not measured in popularity or in being right in the eyes of others, my wish is that we are never afraid of being wrong or walking, free of prejudice, our own way.” In conclusion, Francisco Gomes encouraged the club to look to the future with confidence and security, stating, before an audience filled with athletes, in charge of education and several guests, “In this house there is no fear of work or scarring. Tomorrow awaits. We know we're up to it, and we're gonna make it the best day of our lives. So come on! We are going to fight!” More than two hundred in ‘dinner’ of the Country Club Those who also pointed out the start of the season were the Clube de Pais, which made with the spirit of joy and conviviality that best defines this organization. This time, the parents of the CAB received more than 200 people for a ‘Arroz a Valenciana’ that made the delight of all present. The conviviality, which, for reasons of logistics, was carried out in Campo One of the Pavilion (for it was the only space that included all the subscribers), established the emphasis for the rest of the year, which foresees a time filled with the familiar spirit of the Basketball Friends.
